Asia Procurement Senior Operation Specialist

Reports to:

Procurement Operation Manager


Summary of Responsibilities:

Asia Procurement Operation Specialist is responsible for providing Procurement services in the areas of supplier management, Procurement system operation, contract management, metrics and reporting and other procurement related activities.


This role will ensure that Asia Procurement will operating applicable systems seamlessly, ensuring compliance policy adherence, spend tracking/reporting in an accurate manner. These activities are critical to MetLife meeting the regulatory requirements for third-party supplier management, policy adherence and appropriate documentation and reporting under the supervision of Procurement Operation Manager.


This role will also be responsible for building strong partnerships with key business unit leaders, provide insights around best in class practices, up-to-date governance trends, and work cooperatively in a cross-functional capacity with other areas of MetLife. This role is required to bring process inefficiencies to light and initiate resolution leveraging best practices and competitive research under the guidance of Procurement Operation Manager.

Principal Responsibilities:

Take following responsibilities under the supervision of Procurement Operation Manager.

  • Assist Procurement Operation Manager to optimize Procurement operations
  • Manage Procurement related company risk exposures and enhance non-financial risk controls and capabilities
  • Ensure that relevant risks have appropriately identified, assessed, managed, and reported in line with MetLife’s policies and procedures
  • Enhance Procurement’s oversight role under Third Party Risk Management framework
  • Coordinate the creation and adoption of regional/country procedures and supplier management framework to ensure effective management of supplier relationships
  • Ensure execution of MetLife sustainability policy and corporate social responsibility programs while dealing with third party management and supplier diversity principals (where applicable)
  • Prepare regular analytic features include upgrading operational process and procedures, spend and procurement performance metrics
  • Ensure process validation processes are in place to meet compliance and procurement requirements in the region
  • Drive Procurement operations across region and ensure efficient management and execution of relevant procedures
  • Provide support and assistance to business units regarding supplier relationships management and associated risks frame
  • Provide insight of procurement systems being utilized in the region to ensure it is fully utilized to increase the visibility and mitigate the potential risks
  • Anticipate and initiate conflict/problem resolution by pursuing mutually agreeable solutions within the program framework
  • Support business units within the region in managing internal and external audit and regulatory requirements


Knowledge/Skills/Competencies Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree/Master’s degree or commensurate experience
  • Experience using procurement/supply chain management software and tools, including Oracle, SAP Ariba, and/or Envision
  • Great communication, interpersonal and networking skills
  • Sense of ownership and pride in your performance and its impact on company’s success
  • Excellent language skills (English)
  • Advanced skill of MS-Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication skills and ability to thrive in a multicultural work environment
  • Demonstrate a positive attitude and have proactive mindset
  • Multi-tasking and time-management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented
  • Strong interpersonal skills, work well in a team environment, able to work in diverse environments and adhere to highest ethical standards



Knowledge/Skills/Competencies Preferred:

  • Cultural awareness and sensitivity are required
  • Experience within Life Insurance industry is an added advantage
  • Understanding of third-party regulatory environment
