The Role

The Data Solutions Architect is a senior member of the Center of Excellence for Data Analytics organization.

The team engages at the strategic as well as initiative/project level to provide robust, scalable solutions

leveraging applicable shared service platforms established by Enterprise Data Services.

 

The Regional Asia Data Solutions Architect will be responsible as a key person in interfacing with the

regions/countries and providing data analytics solutions, data management, data governance, and data

architectural oversight around data analytics programs/projects in the region. He/She is responsible for

driving new and innovative approaches to store, collect, process, and maintain data as to how the company

understands, interacts, and services its customers and distribution through the optimization of analytics to

drive business insights. The Data Solutions Architect is expected to provide enterprise-level consulting to

MetLife business and technology executives on the design, development, and implementation of complex

data strategy, and simplifying for business implementation/integration. The candidate needs to demonstrate

experience identifying and addressing business needs, communicating a broad range of approaches for

data management domain.

 

Key Responsibilities: 

Functional Responsibilities

  • Establish, implement, and maintain Data Strategy for Asia, collaborating closely with Data Analytics
  • Center of Excellence, Regional Architecture, and technology heads across the region.
  • Work with Data Scientist to understand key requirements around demand and translate into suitable
  • architecture, designs and implementation.
  • Develop and/or review the Solution Architecture for key data analytics and data-intensive initiatives
  • across Asia region. Ensure that the architecture adheres to Data Strategy, follows best practices
  • Setup Data and Cloud migration strategies working with GARB
  • Collaborate closely with the Data Analytics team and Data Integration shared services team to
  • evolve the platform capabilities (MDM/DQ/ETL/Big Data) based on project level needs.
  • Establish disciplines around development and definition of framework and reusable components to
  • increase efficiency and quality of solutions delivered.
  • Collaborate closely with Regional Enterprise Architecture and country architecture team on data
  • governance and usage of platforms in appropriate ways.
  • Recruits, administers, directs, motivates, and develops key staff, maximizing their individual
  • contribution, their professional growth, and their ability to function effectively with their colleagues as
  • team.
  • Interfaces with other top-level management and technology heads across the region and enterprise,
  • and takes an active role in determining overall company data strategies.
  • Ensure optimum support provided by service providers – both internal and external

 

Candidate Qualifications: 

  • Deep technical competency in leveraging ETL, MDM, DQ, Metadata Management tools to deliver
  • robust and scalable solutions within the data management domain.
  • Competent programming aptitude with excellent computation and data modelling skills (with
  • expertise in using Big Data, SQL and/or NoSQL)
  • Experience in setting up Cloud and Mobile application architecture
  • Ability to translate and articulate technical thoughts and ideas to a larger audience including
  • influencing skills with peers and senior management
  • Self-motivated to continuously upgrade one's domain knowledge, keep abreast of latest
  • developments in the field and evaluate its application in the business area on a consistent basis.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills, understands what it takes to deliver
  • software with exposure to large-scale systems
  • Financial Acumen, including Planning, Analysis, and Reporting
  • Demonstrated proficiency at planning and executing multiple complex, cross-functional projects
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication proficiency
  • Demonstrated ability to establish relationships and build rapport in order to influence colleagues at
  • all levels, uncover business issues and identify needs
  • Demonstrated ability to present and communicate concisely and clearly with all levels of financial,
  • non-financial, technical, and executive audiences
  • Graduate degree in any Computer Science or related discipline

 

 

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills: 

  •  8~10+ years of strong background in building Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence
  • applications, inclusive of experience designing for advanced analytics.
  • Experience in Datawarehouse cloud migration (Azure) strategies
  • Working knowledge in Big Data applications/solutions such as Hive, HBase, Spark, Kafka.
