POSITION TITLE:   Associate, Actuarial Modelling

LOB/ Global Function

Global Actuarial Modelling Group (GAM) is the central actuarial modelling, testing and production team in MetLife. This modelling team in Kuala Lumpur has been recently set up with the aims to support all the modeling needs in the Asia region.

THE ROLE:

This position is mainly working with the modelling team in Japan on implementing and maintaining MetLife Japan’s actuarial financial models on Prophet, including modelling for asset projection in Prophet ALS library. The existing model covers all important financial calculations and projections including local statutory, local GAAP, EV and ALM reporting as well as pricing purpose. Also, the incumbent carries out coding review and testing for updates prepared by other teams. Further, tool updates, process improvements and coding for the underlying liability process might be required.

Reports to: Director, Global Actuarial Modelling Japan lead

Other Key Stakeholders: Representatives of Japan local office

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implementing Prophet model in accordance with requirements, with support from team members, including asset modelling in ALS
  • Follow up with business stakeholders to ensure that the model supports business needs
  • Communication with Global teams to align updates between models
  • Explanation to model users regarding current and updated functionality
  • Resolving technical issues encountered during implementation and explaining variances observed;
  • Support of production process by analyzing and explaining errors and unexpected results

 

 

CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS:

Business Knowledge/Technical Skills:

  • At least 1-2 years of practical Prophet experience, in-depth knowledge of using advanced features in Prophet. Asset modelling experience will be a plus
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and/or Excel VBA will be a plus
  • Strong in communication with peoples from different countries and have different cultures
  • Experience in explaining modelling and functionality to users with less technical background
