The Role:


Metlife Asia Technology has embarked on the transformation journey, which includes modernizing our IT landscape, digital transformation, implementing best practices for our development, testing and production support. It also includes building a world class engineering team.


As part of this, a new role is required which will lead the team responsible for


  • Creating a framework for cloud and working with CIOs to move applications to cloud.
  • Building and developing SRE practices and managing all the tools around it.
  • Managing and enhancing our DevSecOps tools.
  • Creating UI framework.
  • Defining “what good looks like” for applications/systems engineering.


The person needs to be highly technical and hand-on


Key Responsibilities:

  • Working with other architects to drive architecture selection.
  • Lead, coach, develop & manage team members to build an engineering culture
  • Create a blue-print for cloud and work with CIOs to move to cloud.
  • Adopt and implement cloud best practices across Asia.
  • Build, develop and implement SRE practices.
  • Implement Observability Framework.
  • Lead implementation of DevSecOps and manage the corresponding Tools.
  • Create UI framework and best practices that can be used across Asia.
  • Champion best practices and modern software development methods and tools.
  • Leads the technical design and development of applications using existing and emerging technology platforms.
  • Build strong working relationships with other engineering leaders to ensure software engineering teams meet expectations and contribute to achievement of business goals.
  • Support and facilitate innovative and experimental software development work to test new ideas, within bounded cost and time frames.
  • Responsible for peer reviews of solution designs and related code for complex solution portfolio
  • Responsible for investigation and resolution of escalated production management incidents, problems, and service requests. Communicates with Product Executive of status
  • Influences business with emerging technology trends and capabilities that align to Solution portfolio.
  • Ensures the team has the technical competencies to meet the product capability needs aligned to the customer.

Enable productivity by fostering cross-team communication, empowerment, and accountability.

Partners with Audit, Application Security and Architecture to plan through potential risks associated with product and/or processes.


Candidate Qualifications:

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree of Computer Science or Information Technology or equivalent
  • Should be an expert in DevSecOps, Application design, development and architecture.
  • Proven ability in cloud native technologies.
  • Expert in Secure design and coding practice, DB development tools.
  • Good knowledge of agile practices
  • Keen to explore/drive different new digital solutions and innovation ideas for potential opportunities in driving sales, improving operation efficiency and customer experience
  • Good attitude and growth mindset, agility.
  • Self-motivated and passionate about new digital technologies and associated trends.
  • Eagerness to learn about new and unfamiliar technologies.
