Role Value Proposition: 

As a Small Market Sales Desk Representative, you will partner with multiple Regional Market Sales Reps to drive product sales and proactively retain cases within an assigned territory across the country.  This role is designed to significantly increase Small Business (employer groups under 100 lives) market share by selling and retaining profitable group business (Dental, Vision, Life, Disability, and Voluntary Benefit products). 

 

We promote a competitive, yet collaborative culture where teamwork is emphasized and compensation is awarded individually.  You will succeed by building rapport and fostering relationships with the aligned Sales Reps, brokers and brokerage operational staff, acting as the primary interface from MetLife to help deliver solutions that meet customer needs. Additionally, the Small Market Sales Representative will work closely with key stakeholders – Regional Market sales partners, underwriting, implementation & service to meet company objectives of sales, growth, retention, and financial results.

   

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Work independently, drive product sales and proactively retain cases within assigned territory and accountable for specific sales targets
  • Promote Dental, Vision, Disability, Life and Voluntary Benefit products through expertise in the less than 100 lives segment, while driving awareness of MetLife’s capabilities in the greater than 100 lives space
  • Maintain and grow the book of business through new business sales with select brokers
  • Manage renewals for current book of business; meet and exceed persistency targets within assigned territory
  • Meet and exceed Add Coverage targets within assigned territory
  • Educate Brokers in navigating MetLife processes, product offerings and the overall organization
  • Identify customer needs and available internal resources to support planned sales activity
  • Follow-up on quote activity including gathering information and coordinating efforts with internal teams
  • Debrief on all proposal and renewal outcome and determine root cause for carrier selection (plan design, rates, etc.)
  • Develop new broker relationships within assigned territory

 

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

Required:

  • 2 - 5 years of related experience
  • Understanding of core selling techniques including how to respond to sales leads in a manner that will deliver client-centric solutions
  • The ability to think critically and solve problems
  • The ability to present clear business strategies utilizing data driven decision making
  • The ability to obtain (if not currently in possession of) a Life, Accident and Health License within 90 days of employment. Must remain up-to-date with continuing education requirements to maintain licensing.

Preferred:

  • BA/BS Degree highly preferred
  • Utilize organizational skills to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced, high energy environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including verbal and written communication, presentation and relationship building skills
  • Possess sound business judgment and analytical skills, a natural ability to lead and influence others
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
