Role Value Proposition:

The Senior Software Development Engineer will work with the business partners and business analysts to review requirements so that the technical design and development of the application can be completed.  The application that this position will be building is ServiceNow, which is an IT Service Management, HR Case Management, Asset Management, and many other components at MetLife.  The ServiceNow application projects include new development, enhancements, and production fixes.  The position requires strong communication skills to lead and interact with business partners, analysts, developers, testing team, and other associated teams.  This position requires proficiency in producing quality ServiceNow configuration and code that supports the business functional requirements.  The position requires knowledge of the Agile Software Development Life Cycle. The candidate must have experience adapting to an environment that is fast paced and capable of working in all aspects of the ServiceNow application.  The ideal candidate will have strong technical, analytical, communication skills, and ServiceNow experience.

 

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Analyzing, designing, developing, and testing applications on ServiceNow cloud-based enterprise-level platform
  • Designing and developing across Web technologies - JavaScript, HTML, HTML5, CSS, Database, and JQuery
  • Designing and developing Webservices or APIs using SOAP or REST to internal and external applications
  • Designing and developing Business Rules, UI Actions, UI Policies, Client Scripts, Validation Scripts, and Workflows
  • Designing and developing Human Resources Case Management and Employee Onboarding
  • Designing and developing IT Service Management, CMDB, Knowledge Management
  • Working in an Agile project management methodology, ensuring that all required steps are followed, all required deliverables are produced, and all approvals are obtained 
  • Designing and implement software that is simple, intuitive, and easy to use based on the functionality to meet their specific business requirements
  • Performing the production support activities of diagnosing complex issues and troubleshooting code including the investigation, resolution, and fixes for incidents and problems 
  • Reporting on project progress and accomplishments
  • Writing design documentation that describes installation and operating procedures
  • Communicates effectively with all levels of the organization both in writing and orally

  • Works well in a very fast paced environment

  • Work closely with project manager, architects, analysts, developers, test team, business partners, and applicable outside entities (vendors and others)
  • Actively participates in production deployments to validate changes in production
  • Provides estimates for work efforts on new projects, user stories, and sprint planning
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member
  • Proactively monitors operating efficiency of production and non production environments.

  • Provides technical support to other team members

 

Required Experience:

  • 8+ years of related design and development experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration or work related positions
  • 5 + years JavaScript, HTML, HTML5, CSS, Database, and JQuery
  • 2 + years of IT Service Management tools (ServiceNow, Remedy, etc.)
  • 2 + years of IT Service Management  processes (Incident, Problem, Change, Service Catalog, Asset Management, Knowledge)

 

Preferred Experience:

  • ServiceNow experience is preferred
  • ServiceNow Human Resource knowledge is a plus and preferred
  • Use of Agile Methodology is preferred
