Software Development Engineer I – Configuration 

 

Job Location: Galway, Ireland

 

The Global Technology & Operations group (GTO) is a diverse team of engineers, developers, business analysts, and project managers with the freedom to create innovative solutions to address core business challenges within MetLife. GTO’s strategy is to deliver a differentiated customer experience and increase MetLife’s operating leverage.

 

Design, develop, and implement applications leveraging data assets and follow the full systems development lifecycle (SDLC). Working collaboratively in an AGILE & Dev Ops Methodology environment

 

Key Relationships:

Reports to: Technical Lead – Manager SDE

Direct Reports: N/A

Other Key Stakeholders: Plan Organization, Test Organization, IT Project Managers, Sub-Regional CIO, Head of IT Operations

  

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in design, coding and testing of computer programs for projects
  • Assist with preparation of test cases
  • Assist in preparation of documentation for test and run procedures; assist in preparation of change tickets
  • Assist in preparation of knowledge transfer session documents for operations
  • Assist in analysis and debugging of computer programs
  • Configure business rules using packaged software (examples include IBM SPM, VUE etc.)

 

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

  • Degree in Computer Science (Level 8), Information Systems, Software Engineering or related, or 4 years equivalent work experience
  • 2+ years development experience in one or more of the following: Asp.Net, C#,  MS SQL
  • MS Office: Word, Excel, Power Point and Access
  • Desire to build a career around configuration based software packages (familiarity with IBM SPM, VUE or similar packages an advantage)
