MetLife is opening a new Global Technology Campus in Galway, Ireland in 2017 which will have more than 200 employees. MetLife is seeking a person who has extensive multi-national company experience, who has been involved in a start-up situation with experience in planning and implementing IT programs. The second major part of the successful candidate’s role will also encompass Site Management for our new Building in Galway plus have ownership of our local grant/funding portfolio.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for creating an environment for collaboration and teamwork at the site.
  • Develop programs to build GTO key behaviors and deliver a world class environment to work in
  • Work closely with the onsite leadership team and be responsible for the management of MetLife’s program for leveraging funding and grants from a broad range of sources both nationally and internationally
  • Build and strengthen positive MetLife relations with key external stakeholder bodies, including Local, European and Global stakeholders
  • Prepare grant documentation for submission and present to internal and external stakeholders
  • Ownership and management of the invoicing, budgets and forecasts for each grant.
  • Work collaboratively with the Planning and Finance department in accordance with each grant requirement
  • Oversee the setup of the new facility for MetLife in Galway Ireland. Ensure all the relevant functions are coordinated in order to deliver the facility on time and on budget
  • Interacts frequently with site management, site facility management and vendor leads. Makes decisions that impact site budgets.
  • Ensures the building is compliant with policies and procedures and all statutory requirements.
  • Responsibility for implementation, management and monitoring compliance with Health & Safety Systems and Regulations.
  • Business Continuity (BC) Coordinator for Premises and the company’s BC activities.
  • Responsible for management oversight of a unit of Project Management resources
  • Responsible for stakeholder management, inclusive of stakeholders external to the department/organization
  • Provide a single point of contact for the unit on all projects
  • Resolve issues through direct action or escalation when necessary
  • Manage and provide status on unit’s administrative tasks and budgets
  • Communicate with management and staff to achieve the goals of the unit
  • Facilitate team meetings and keeping of meeting minutes
  • Oversee the creation and maintenance of all project documentation (including, but not limited to project plans) according to established procedures
  • Prominent role in achieving departmental objectives and participation in team meetings
  • Responsible for team metrics (resource allocation, training, etc.)
  • Communicates with Project Management counterparts, customers and project stakeholders to ensure continuing alignment with project objectives
  • Manage and track the overall project portfolio and pipeline of new project requests
  • Leads initial project analysis and scope determination for all new project requests

 

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree and related field experience required; Advanced degree preferred.
  • 10 + years of experience in large, global corporate environment preferably financial services industry; along with years of managing IT projects combined with technical experience directly related to the position
  • Minimum 3-5 years of management, supervisory or team leader experience
  • PMP certified and continues to maintain certification
  • Deep knowledge of both national and international funding/grant landscape, excellent grant writing, communication
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with external and internal stakeholders
  • Have a strategic understanding of the Irish higher education sector
  • Excellent written and presentation skills
  • Excellent interpersonal/communication skills and an ability to work effectively with employees and management across all levels both internally and externally
  • Financial management skills including developing and monitoring budgets and financial reporting
  • Ability to prepare comprehensive update reports for the management team on funding pipeline
  • Ability to be resourceful, enthusiastic, prioritize work, meet deadlines to produce quality results within pressurized situations
