Role Value Proposition: 

Leading all compliance activities for the MetLife Innovation Centre Limited (“MICL”) in Galway by providing direction, oversight and implementation of compliance policies and monitoring plans thereby ensuring the business is conducted in compliance with ethical business practices, MetLife compliance programme and policies and local regulatory requirements. Applicants should have a good knowledge of global (EU) regulatory requirements for financial/IT services businesses with a focus on privacy and cyber risk. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to work part time but in a high profile and challenging role. We are looking for a capable compliance professional to take ownership of all compliance work for this entity and a person who is happy to work independently with some support from a Compliance team in Dublin.


Key Responsibilities: 

  • Responsible for the execution of strategic and functional compliance and monitoring plans taking account of risk management systems and controls.
  • Ensure that policies are updated in accordance with ongoing regulatory developments including tracking and communication of new regulatory and legislative requirements.
  • Develop and maintain strong compliance risk management programs, including identifying significant compliance risks, evaluating the management of those risks and developing action plans to enhance controls where appropriate.
  • Represent the Compliance function with internal and external stakeholders including Board and Senior Management and report clearly and effectively to relevant stakeholders.
  • Ensure appropriate oversight of outsourcing requirements to ensure compliance with applicable law and regulations and internal policy requirements, to include risk-based monitoring.
  • Participate on training programs to educate company staff on the company’s policies and procedures and applicable legislation related to compliance matters.


Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:


  • Minimum 3-5 years’ experience working in a general compliance role.
  • Strong ABC and Data Protection compliance experience is essential.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels, including senior management and external stakeholders.
  • You must take a proactive approach to work and have the ability to work on your own initiative.
  • High energy levels and ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Experience working in a similar role in another IT multinational would be beneficial but is not essential.
