Role Value Proposition: 

A specialist corporate tax accounting role with responsibility for managing tax compliance and financial reporting tasks for a number of MetLife’s EU/EEA holding companies, supporting tax accounting work relating to Financial and Regulatory close, and certain budgeting and procurement tasks relating to the EMEA tax team.


A self-starter role, this is an ideal role for someone looking to work in a flexible and dynamic company on a part time basis.   With the timing of many of the tasks clearly identified in advance, this role will suit an individual who has a proven track record of managing projects/processes from start to finish with limited managerial intervention, though managerial guidance and processes will be clearly defined at the outset. This role is ideally suited to someone having obtained a grounding in tax accounting in practice or industry. 


Key Responsibilities: 

  • Managing the preparation of tax provision and related notes and audit support for annual IFRS filings for certain Swiss/ Irish entities (primarily holding companies)
  • Preparation of certain Irish and UK corporation tax compliance obligations
  • Managing the current expense review and UK PSA return process with a view to advancing existing opportunities for improvement 
  • Supporting EMEA Tax team with monthly/quarterly projection reviews and tax booking for USGAAP /Solvency II
  • Supporting the EMEA Tax Director with EMEA Tax budget planning and reconciliation
  • Supporting EMEA Tax team and service providers with procurement system approval requests
  • Other compliance /reporting work as required


Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:



  • Min six years corporation tax or tax accounting experience
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines and work independently with minimal managerial supervision
  • Skilled in use of computer systems and associated software packages required to complete the role, e.g. excel and other web-based tax provisioning and financial reporting tools
  • Strong communication skills are important as the successful candidate will be liaising with the EMEA Tax Team and other stakeholders across EMEA Functional/Finance teams


Additional beneficial skills set:

  • Insurance, banking or other financial services industry experience
  • Professional tax qualification (AITI) or a professional accounting qualification (ACA/ACCA) desired



There may be some travel to other MetLife locations.
