Job Location: Dublin

Role Value Proposition:

This is a role in Global Actuarial Modeling (GAM) for the EMEA Region. GAM is a part of Actuarial Resources which sits within Finance Management Group (FMG). This role will support the Senior Actuary of GAM (EMEA) in Dublin. The role will involve the development and maintenance of MetLife’s EMEA models, with the candidate being involved in the end-to-end modelling process in production. The candidate will work with the EMEA Actuarial teams and the Actuarial IT teams to implement required developments, and ensure appropriate results are generated in production. The role will have exposure to LDTI and IFRS 17 as they are moved into a BAU production mode. The role will also be involved in supporting and training other team members to ensure there is a high level of modelling standards in place.

Actuarial Modeling work is crucial for generating accurate and timely numbers which become part of our financials for multiple external and internal stakeholders like the SEC in the US, the Central Bank of Ireland in Dublin, other local regulators, senior management, and MetLife’s board. Financial results are key consideration in measuring our performance against targets and company strategy and in shaping the strategy for future. These actuarial models, and the team’s work, generate key analysis helping business to review the performance from different angles and take action.

This role demands an individual who has a strong actuarial modeling background either in Prophet or Pathwise and can also work with multiple stakeholders and remote teams. Knowledge of PolySystems will be an additional benefit. As the role is more focused on Europe, knowledge of Solvency II and ORSA is required. Furthermore, as EMEA is implementing a new financial reporting basis, IFRS17 across many countries, any prior experience and knowledge of EMEA Business and IFRS17 are strong plus points.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the regular development of EMEA’s models
  • Supporting the end-to-end modelling processes in production
  • Liaising with GAM’s actuarial and IT partners to develop and deploy successful model releases
  • Supporting internal initiatives which will improve the agility of EMEA’s modelling processes
  • Reviewing and coaching team members on model development work

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

Required:

  • Bachelor degree in related field
  • Progressing through actuarial exams from a recognized actuarial body
  • At least 2 years’ experience in modelling work in Prophet, Pathwise, or other related modelling package
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience of working with multiple stakeholders
  • Knowledgeable on Europe Business and Reporting metrics like Solvency II & ORSA

Preferred:

  • Experience in PolySystems models
  • Knowledge and experience of IFRS17 or LDTI
