Role Value Proposition: 

 

The role is part of the Investment Accounting and Reporting (“IRG”) team and is part of business aligned Global Securities Accounting & Operations.  The team focusses on reporting, control, and oversight of investment activities within the EMEA region supporting risk management, external and internal reporting, capital allocation. The team works closely with a variety of Finance and Non-Finance stakeholders including Portfolio Management, Risk Management, Hedging, Treasury & Middle Office, and fronts to senior levels of management including subregion CEO, CFO and CRO.

 

The role will be responsible for preparing investment submissions and analytics for Solvency II and US GAAP reporting for the EMEA region. The role offers broad exposure and experience which offers opportunities across many geographical locations and functional teams. This is a great opportunity for someone with financial reporting experience to work in the Insurance industry with a wide variety of responsibilities. It is a varied and challenging role and you will also be expected to actively participate in ongoing projects / initiatives outside of your ‘BAU’ work.

 

 

Key Responsibilities:  

  • Preparation and review of Solo and Group Solvency II Investments QRTS, analytics and Investment aspects of quarterly and annual Solvency II reports
  • Support the periodic (monthly, quarterly, annual) reporting of the Investment performance via production of USGAAP, USSTAT & Solvency II analytics across EMEA
  • Partner with key stakeholders, develop strong working relationships across multiple countries and functional teams to ensure on time quality deliverables consistently achieved
  • Review and oversight of work performed by offshore service provider ensuring appropriate controls in place with strong “value add” focus. Incorporating Fixed Income, Derivative, Commercial Real Estate and Private Equity investments
  • Lead & support ad-hoc projects as required (e.g., Solvency II 2023 Taxonomy updates, Migration to Irish GAAP in ME & MEI, Implementation of IFRS 9, UK subsidiary migration)
  • Develop and maintain sound and robust process controls and procedure documentation
  • Support Risk Function via team EUC disclosures, reporting of KPIs and Finance Data Governance steward for Solvency II reporting
  • Teaming up with offshore resources in India

 

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

 

 

Required:

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA) with at least five years’ experience in Investments reporting roles, preferably in a global financial institution
  • Exposure to accounting and reporting aspects of a wide variety of asset classes
  • Strong understanding of drivers of investment performance and how these factors translate to accounting, and reporting
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills - both written and oral
  • Negotiation skills directed at influencing outcomes including ability to portray complex issues and suggested ways forward in a compelling and intuitive way

 

 

Preferred:

  • Experience with Solvency II reporting notably for following QRTs: QRTs S0602, S0603, S0801, S0802, S0901, S1101, S2902, S3702
  • High level of personal drive and enthusiasm and ability to work under pressure with tight timeline
  • Experience with a change culture and fast paced developments
  • Strong Excel, Word and PowerPoint skills
