Role Value Proposition: 


Assistant Vice President – Head of IT Audit, EMEA position reports directly to the Vice President Head of Internal Audit, EMEA while also having a matrix reporting line in to the Head of Global Technology Audit based in the US.  This position involves managing a team of IT audit senior managers and audit managers. The role provides leadership and management support for the Internal Audit team of the EMEA region and is responsible for all audit activities related to various IT functions and data analytics reporting in EMEA.


The incumbent must have the ability to motivate a diverse audit team towards common objectives while ensuring business partners recognize the function as independent, value-adding and of the highest integrity. In addition to being a Subject Matter Expert, the position serves as the primary point of Internal Audit contact to regional executive and senior business management regarding the IT control health of their organizations, and the attention of their associates to operate in a control environment where risks and operating control weaknesses are acknowledged and effectively managed. 


The position is also a critical element in the design of the Regional Reporting Operating Model, which is charged with communicating to regional executive management regarding tops risks. The position is focused on driving operational excellence throughout the EMEA Audit Organisation, with an emphasis on simplifying our reporting processes.




Key Responsibilities: 


  • Develop and implement audit programs to reflect the evolving technology processes and risks within EMEA. In addition, participates in annual audit universe risking exercise
  • Keep abreast of changes in audit, accounting, regulatory and industry practices and modify audit risk assessments and audit procedures accordingly
  • Ensure alignment with the other regional, sub-regional and corporate audit teams, to ensure completeness of risk coverage, and consistency of approach and reporting practices across different teams
  • Provide leadership and management direction to plan, supervise and deliver timely audits relating to IT business functions, which can include end-to-end reviews.  Integrates other disciplines into these audits to include; finance, operations, data analytics and other subject matter experts as necessary 
  • Manages the evaluation and testing of processes and controls and identification of areas of risk in areas of responsibility, and related IT Risk Management areas
  • Review of audit reports and agree findings and recommendations with local and regional management, ensuring alignment to corporate initiatives
  • Accountable for work papers to ensure sufficient coverage through the review process 
  • Accountable for open issue management to include timely communication on potential past due items
  • Coach and develop, monitor and evaluate the performance of other auditors, which includes mentoring
  • Support achievement of the Audit Function’s tactical and strategic goals by maintaining close coordination with the other regional leaders and the Global Technology Audit function



Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:


  • 10+ years of progressively responsible IT audit experience including roles in audit control, public accounting, risk management and/or advisory experience
  • Experience in supervisory or project management roles, including experience managing audit engagements
  • Comprehensive knowledge of audit practices, procedures and principles with the ability to interpret and analyze complex concepts and apply these in innovative ways
  • Strong knowledge of generally accepted audit standards and local regulatory requirements Business experience in insurance products, operations, risk management and other areas of financial services
  • Executive communication and presentation skills, and ability to work with senior management and other stakeholders
  • Demonstrated success establishing and maintaining strong working relationships with all levels of associates, management and external parties
  • Excellent analytical, organizational and communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Language proficiency in English
  • Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, investments, finance, economics or related fields
  • Certified as a CISA, CISM or CISSP designation. CPA, CIA or equivalent professional qualification is an advantage
  • Ability and willingness to travel (approximately 20%) throughout the EMEA Region
  • Advanced understanding of:
    • IT Governance processes (IT Policies and Standards, COBIT and ITIL);
    • IT Risk Management assessment processes (e.g., Security, Vendor, and Risk Assessments);
    • IT application control concepts (e.g. application processing controls, system reconciliations, matching, workflows, etc.);
    • IT general controls (e.g. security, change management, disaster backup recovery, data centre, infrastructure, etc.);
    • Information Security frameworks, such as: ISO 27001, Information Security Forum Standard of Good Practice, and NIST standards;
    • Systems Architecture and System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodologies including traditional waterfall methods and agile methodology
    • Operating system and database platforms (e.g. mainframe, client/server, Windows, UNIX, AS400, DB2, etc.);
    • Networking (e.g., TCP/IP);
    • Sarbanes-Oxley requirements.
