Director, Regional Investment Operations Asia

The Director of Regional Investment Operations will be responsible for oversight and management of a regional team supporting process flow, operational procedures, reporting, vendor management and associated governance for Investment’s middle office activities for a global organization in conformance with best practices and investment management requirements.  Candidates must possess the broad knowledge and understanding of trading operations, investment instruments, reference data, securities accounting, management reporting and related data needs.  The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker who will participate in project initiatives and is willing and able to directly participate in day to day operational activities and tactical responsibilities of this position.


Responsibilities include

  • Managing a team of investment operations professionals which perform day-to-day derivatives and collateral operational, data integrity and reconciliation activities for investment across APAC region
  • Understanding regulatory changes and requirements, and working with global teams to design and implement changes to satisfy such requirements
  • Managing relationships and monitoring performance of investment and trade operations service providers, including, but not limited to, pricing, reconciliation, corporate actions, trade settlement and cash management, etc.
  • Working closely with investment teams and executives in Hong Kong, across APAC and globally to understand and resolve issues, support new investment products and regulatory requirements, etc.
  • Driving regional business implementation efforts of new and enhanced processes and related technology changes
  • Regularly updating international-based senior management teams with status and accomplishments
  • Regularly and continually review, evaluate, and report relevant metrics for measuring quality, effectiveness, and consistency for processes under purview.
  • Regularly perform root cause analysis on user inquiries and drive feedback to individual team members or other stakeholders.
  • Ensure training is provided for application/support tasks to members of the Support Team responsible for day to day operations. 
  • Work with team members across the organization to understand, identify and address issues or opportunities that lead to effective support processes and improvements in quality of services.


 Minimum requirements

  • BA or BS in Accounting, Finance, or IT related field (MBA a plus)
  • Experience with investment systems such as Murex, Calypso, Aladdin and PAM
  • Strong understanding of Investment support, reporting, and accounting
  • Previous management experience required
  • 5+  years of work experience within Investments, Finance, or related IT function
  • Advanced multi-tasking and time management skills
  • Advanced problem-solving abilities, communication skills, and hands on as needed
  • Must be skilled at understanding groups/teams concerns beyond ones own
  • Some travel required
