At MetLife, we seek to make a meaningful impact in the lives of our customers and our communities.  The Global Technology & Operations group (GTO) is a diverse team of engineers, developers, business analysts, and project managers with the freedom to create innovative solutions to address core business challenges within MetLife.  This group is responsible for large scale enterprise operational support of all network related hardware and software products by IT.  This role provides 24/7 troubleshooting and support to various LAN/WAN networks and workstations and responds to complex problems escalated by the help desk and Operations staff pertaining to all network related hardware and software products supported by IT.  Team will be working in an Enterprise environment supporting over 50,000 users.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Responds to complex problems escalated by the help desk and Operations staff pertaining to all network related hardware and software products supported by IT.
  • Works with vendors and network engineering in the identification and resolution of complex network problems.
  • Able to identify and explain various technology solutions to our AD partners and assist them in selecting which is optimal for the business application in question.
  • Partners with design engineers on new product testing.
  • Partners with client and development area management in developing systems specifications, technical implementation plans and coordinates complex installation projects working with staff, clients and network engineers.
  • Performs quality acceptance testing.
  • Participates in the evaluation of vendor proposals, conducts network studies and traffic analysis, and recommends modifications to the network configuration to reduce cost or improve service.


Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

Required Experience:

  • 5+ years related IT experience
  • Networking background, strong knowledge of TCP/IP networking, and LAN/WAN Routing and Switching.
  • Ability to act independent of management direction in a crisis situation.
  • Requires good consultative and communication skills, analytical ability, and the ability to work with client, IT management, staff and vendors.

Preferred Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or other related field
  • CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent certification
  • Leadership skills
  • Programming experience
