Role Value Proposition: 

The Software Development Engineer will work with a team focused on delivering a transformational program to market for the Property and Casualty business.  Specifically, the person will have the opportunity to train and work with software called Guidewire configuring and programming features for the products in a new platform. The person should be comfortable tackling different technologies, new integrations, working in a team-oriented atmosphere and should value solving problems.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in design, coding and testing of computer programs for projects
  • Preparation of test cases
  • Establish documentation for test and run procedures; assist in preparation of change tickets
  • Ensure preparation of knowledge transfer session documents for operations
  • Analysis and debugging of computer programs

 

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering or related field
  • 1+ years development experience, training or course work in Java or an equivalent object-oriented programming language
  • MS Office: Word, Excel, Power Point and Access
  • Problem solving, prioritization, excellent communication

Preferred:

  • Experience working with configuration-based software packages
  • Experience working with Property and Casualty insurance, Guidewire software familiarity
  • Understanding of Agile or Lean concepts, process improvement, performance and/or regression testing
