The Channels & Integration team is at the forefront of the Digital Strategy at Metlife, developing world-class customer platforms that enable marketing, distribution and servicing globally.   This Project Principle role is responsible and accountable for the execution and management of transformational Global Delivery programs (several related projects) typically large in size, duration, and complexity with responsibility for all aspects of the project across several functional teams.   Successful candidates will be able to leave their “fingerprint” on programs, enabling successful delivery of critical programs that are transforming the digital business at MetLife.

Key Responsibilities:  

  • Leader of matrix teams that manage programs that are of large size, duration and complexity
  • Works with many areas of the organization, typically at the functional and enterprise level, and has extensive knowledge of initiating, planning, executing, monitoring, controlling, and closing of IT programs
  • Leads IT program teams (virtual, matrix) for efforts large in size, duration and complexity, and applies extensive knowledge of program and project management best-in-class processes (including managing stakeholder expectations, communications, budget management, schedule management, performance reporting, risk management, etc.) to an IT program.
  • Maintains scope, cost and extreme focus on schedule of programs through management of the project or sub-project team and interaction with the Program Sponsor, Project Sponsor(s), including development, QA, UAT, and maintenance of program management plan and communications management.
  • Serves as a role model by leading and demonstrating commitment to challenge inefficient processes and implementing high standards for project and program management
  • Builds and maintains highly effective on-going communications and promotes “One Team” processes and accountability across IT and global organizations to ensure that the IT program is completed in a manner that achieves business objectives.
  • Oversees assigned virtual or matrixed project staff members
     
    Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

 

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 8-10 years of working experience in IT and familiarity with SDLC
  • 10+ years of extensive knowledge in best-in-class real-life project/program management experience in complex environments
  • Proficient with project management concepts such as Scope, Communication, Financial, and Risk Management practices
  • Detailed knowledge and/or experience with technology concepts and Software Development Life Cycle methodologies (i.e.: Waterfall , Iterative, Agile, etc.)
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills, inclusive of written, verbal and listening. Customer Service Orientation and strong teamwork
     

Preferred:

  • Proficient with office automation tools (MS Office suite of applications, email, Internet, etc.)
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deliverables, honor commitments, and “can do” attitude in challenging but exciting environment
  • Highly effective communication standards through oral, written, and presentation mediums
  • Experience working with Project Portfolio Management tools
  • Extensive experience with managing offshore teams and/or vendors
  • Actively working on or already PMP and PgMP certified
  • Familiarity with opensource, cloud based architecture, azure, or API architecture
