Role Value Proposition The Chief Information Officer, Mexico will report to the Chief Information Officer, GTO Latin America Region and the Chief Executive Officer of Mexico. This is a critical role for the organization that will drive cultural change and major technology advancement. The individual will be responsible for motivating and managing local staff.

Application development and methodology:

  • Move the organization from a production support focus to a design and development focus.
  • Implement an iterative development methodology allowing the organization to be responsive and nimble.
  • Build a good balance between quality and speed in delivery.
  • Work with third party development vendors and manage relationships where applicable.


Build relationships with global and regional peer and business leaders:

  • Develop strong relationships with local LOB leadership.
  • Work across GTO, partnering with global functional leaders as well as regional IT leaders on global strategic initiative and localized implementations.
  • Develop strong relationships and build credibility amongst peers.
    IT strategy:
  • Working with the Mexico business entity leaders, create an IT roadmap that then translates into a Mexico strategy.
  • Adapt and define the strategy to ensure alignment globally.
  • Identify the technology areas that have the best opportunities to benefit from Latin America regional coordination, consolidation and management.
  • Define the Mexico staffing requirements best suited to support the strategy, including timeline and expected budget.
  • Coordinate and manage Mexico’s needs within the global IT governance model to ensure alignment of the Mexico strategy to the global IT strategy.


Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

  • 15-20 years relevant experience with at least 10 years as a senior IT executive gained within a multinational where IT leverages its global platform and adapts it to local environments.
  • Fluent English and Spanish communication and people management skills.
  • Experience in application development and systems integration with a global footprint.
  • Experience working in an agile environment within a global/multi-national IT environment with demonstrated success in leveraging IT solutions across the world.
  • Experience managing outsourced developers, application managers and 3rd party vendors.
  • Experience in the financial services industry or a related complex high transaction environment.
  • Hands-on experience using technology solutions to resolve business problems.
  • Ability to coordinate activities and decisions among multiple business entities and their senior leaders and cross-functional decision makers in Mexico.
  • Ability to create and present business cases with cost, benefit and risk analysis to the C-level executives in each of the Mexico business entities to help them make decisions and to obtain the necessary funding on IT projects and initiatives.
  • Ability to build and run a complex IT organization with strong understanding of the complexities working in a global IT organization.
  • A strong technologist with a deep understanding of similar IT environments.
  • An innovative and strategic IT thinker who can solve tough business and technology problems with practical IT solutions.
  • Relevant work experience having worked in Mexico at some point.
  • Ability to drive action through influence with strong local Mexico business leaders and team members (without direct reporting lines).
  • Relevant and consistent track record of repeated business successes.
  • Strong business thinker who can contribute significantly beyond IT function to facilitate and contribute to growth of the business.

    • Mexico Executive Committee:  WSM, Individual Private, EB, DM, Legal, Actuarial, Finance, Product, Marketing, HR, Strategy, Customers and Operations
    • LatAm Investment team, Insurance Superintendence, Internal and External Audits.
    • Latam IT leaders:  Strategy, Architecture, Global Technology Services, Global Infrastructure Services, Application Maintenance, Project Managers and Information Security.
    • Other IT important partners working in global IT having initiatives, projects or services provided in Mexico.
