MetLife is the leading provider of Group Benefits.  The Disability Evolution Delivery organization is a diverse team of technologists, working towards the common goal of ensuring the customer is at the center of everything we do.  As a Technical Lead in the Disability Evolution organization, you will be responsible for leading technical design and development of digital systems to solve complex business problems for our Group Disability customers and their employees.  This role will be responsible for driving technical decisions, best practices, and development of systems. The system will leverage Azure cloud tool and technologies, cutting edge design and integrations across the entire software stack.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in digital product requirement analysis, provide options, and help manage user expectations.
  • Participate in digital product architecture and design sessions to maximize Azure cloud capabilities.
  • Create technical designs, develop code and conduct peer code reviews for digital product microservices
  • Create and drive best practices across software delivery and DevOps pipeline
  • Work on the Agile teams following Scaled Agile methodology.
  • Mentor, innovate and expand the Agile team’s technical capabilities.


Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:  


  • 5+ years of experience in Java-Based Software Development and strong technical experience with building enterprise scale distributed applications. 
  • 5+ years of experience with agile methodologies (SAFE) and use of tools like JIRA/Azure Boards
  • 5+ years Hands-on development experience of complex software systems with experience in at least some of the following frameworks/Technologies: Spring Microservices (REST API definition, Swagger, Json), JavaScript (React or Angular, NodeJS)
  • 3+ years of experience with database technologies and solutions, including both SQL and NoSQL (MongoDB preferred)
  • 3+ years of experience with cloud or container technologies 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with focused attention to details, as well as, demonstrated professionalism and time/task management skills; ability to establish strong relationships. 
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, Engineering or related field 



  • Background working in Financial services Insurance and/or Banking 
  • Experience with monitoring tools such as Splunk, APICA, AppDynamics
  • Development of an enterprise application or platform from the ground up
  • Working knowledge of CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, Azure DevOps, and Bamboo
  • Working knowledge of Jira, Azure DevOps or similiar
