Within Global Technology and Operations (GTO), the centralized TechQA organization, tasked with all software testing, is looking for you to provide technical strategic leadership for the overall Test Delivery organization.  You will act as a subject matter expert in the Test Engineering group and you will guide the partnership with employees and vendors in the Test Delivery organization, along with application, infrastructure, and vendor technical leadership to ensure organizational, functional and technical architectural alignment.

 

The focus of the role posted here is to augment functional and technical leadership, consulting and expertise to projects throughout TechQA to ensure best practices, lessons learned, and new tools and techniques are being applied to increase efficiency and effectiveness. This will entail evaluating multiple testing projects simultaneously during the planning phase, with some follow-up as the projects progress. You will follow a multi-year roadmap in the areas listed below.

  • DevOps and Agile testing processes and tools

  • Automation of all types of testing, including mainframe, services, digital, etc.

  • Test Environment and Test Data Management

  • Testing Tools Evaluation, Installation and Support

  • Broad business functional and application knowledge of MetLife systems portfolio

 

The GTO group is a diverse team of engineers, developers, and business and project managers with the freedom to create innovative solutions to core business challenges within MetLife.  TechQA is the consolidated software testing organization within GTO. Test Engineering is a sub-organization of TechQA that acts as a centralized services provider and consultant to the Test Delivery organization.

 

Key Responsibilities:  

·         Responsible for the overall quality of technology testing deliverables across all parameters including Automation, Test Data and Environment Management, non-functional testing etc. Collaborates with required functions to ensure technology testing needs are well covered for all the projects and programs required.

·         Use a broad understanding of the business functions and applications to recommend efficient way to test or simulate testing of end to end functions.

·         Results-oriented and has a high degree of accountability, commitment and responsibility.

 

·         Works independently, provides technical leadership and strategic direction for the testing organization. Partners with application, infrastructure, and vendor technical leadership to ensure organizational alignment.

·         Provides technical expertise in the analysis, design and execution of testing processes. Possesses in-depth knowledge of infrastructure, testing tools, and various testing techniques and methodologies.

·         Formulates technical test strategy, develops effective environment and data strategy as per organizational needs.

·         Influences technical direction and use of technologies relevant for testing after making necessary evaluations; partners with development architecture team and vendors; and provides recommendation for tools to be procured.

·         Ensures that the appropriate testing infrastructure and test authoring frameworks are established.

·         Where tools do not fully meet requirements, govern design and development of tools as needed; may include oversight of vendor resources to develop tools.

·         Project management for planning, coordination, development and execution of test automation and/or performance scripting required.

 

 

 

Required Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field, or equivalent work experience.

  • 10+ years of systems development, testing and/or business experience or related work experience, software development a plus

  • In-depth knowledge of infrastructure, testing tools, and variety of testing techniques and methodologies

  • Appropriate technical certifications desired

  • Extensive technical skills covering products and technologies knowledge. Sound knowledge of automation, non-functional testing, data and environment management is essential. Strong hands on expertise for automation and few other streams is desired

  • Good knowledge of current industry wide quality & test processes and practices, tools and techniques - their applicability and impact.

  • Strong analytical and communication skills

 

Preferred Experience: 

  • Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or other related field preferred

  • MS Project

  • 2+  years Project Management experience, PMP desired
