Group Core organization is adding/enhancing new products to our MetLife Product Inventory while transforming to a SAFe Agile model.  We have an exciting opportunity for someone to lead a key capability area around Customer Setup which requires partnerships across multiple capability areas.  Customer Setup is the nucleus of our eco-system and requires a dynamic and focused leader.    

 

This role requires the ability to employ a servant leadership mentality and focus on Agile implementation, facilitation, and program health for a medium to large sized value stream or release train.

 

Accountabilities include leadership across 5-8 agile teams, providing agile coaching and guidance while working across all RTEs and senior management to establish best practices and guidelines.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Guide and manage the ART and teams through the delivery of software and services, covering and promoting the Agile mindset
  • Work with Product Management, Product Owners, and other stakeholders to define mission value and prioritize work to help ensure strategy and execution alignment.
  • Guides, coaches and mentors’ managers and teams for Release Train, towards high performance
  • Assist with economic decision-making by facilitating feature and capability estimation by teams and the roll-up to Epics, where necessary
  • Establish and communicate the annual calendars for Iterations and Program Increments (PIs)
  • Establish cadence, facilitate, and drive the agile ceremonies such as PI Planning, Product Owner Sync, Scrum of Scrums, Inspect and Adapt Workshop, Innovation and Sprint Planning events.
  • Manage program risk and facilitate escalation for impediment removal for the Scrum Master and Scrum teams by fostering collaboration throughout the ART.
  • Coach teams through the exploration and adoption of agile engineering practice (e.g., test automation, CI/CD, BDD, Agile Architecture)
  • Facilitate PI Planning readiness by fostering a continuous exploration process which drives the vision, roadmap, and backlogs through Pre- and Post-PI planning meetings.
  • Track and produce key metrics (e.g., burn-down charts, cumulative flow diagrams, solution velocity)

 

EXPERIENCE AND KEY COMPETENCIES

Required:

  • 3+ years of experience as a Program Manager or Release Train Engineer, 
  • 3+ years of experience in a Scaled Agile Environment with 5 or more scrum teams in the ART.
  • 3+ years’ experience as a Scrum Master or Advanced Scrum.
  • Scaled Agile certifications (SA, SPC, RTE) Certified Scrum Master.
  • Experience establishing PI Plans and Objectives. 
  • Bachelor of Science in Technical related field.

 

Preferred:

  • Strong judicious thinking, systems thinking and analytical skills
  • Previous experience engaging stakeholders, contributors, and technical resources to assess user needs and resource limitations
  • Strong ability to communicate with technical team members to translate requirements into technical terminology
  • Strong ability to present data in impactful way to drive decisions with stakeholders and executives
  • Identify roadblocks, evaluate needs, and drive solutions proactively and effectively
  • Experience in supporting multiple scrum/Kanban teams.
  • Experience as a systems engineer, tester, developer or systems demos.
  • Project expertise with tools (JIRA, TFS, Confluence).
