Role Value Proposition:
We are looking for a Senior Project Lead to join our Retirement and Income Solutions team. The incumbent will set high standards of performance for self and others. As a Senior Project Lead in the Retirement and Income Solutions organization in Cary NC, you will lead project teams in the planning and implementation, and you are accountable for delivery of medium to large size projects. This can be leading SDLC through traditional project management methods or may be through agile methods as MetLife evolves the agile maturity of project teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Works independently, manages and oversees the full system development process to lead and manage IT program teams (virtual, matrix) for efforts medium to large in size, duration and complexity and applies program and project management processes (including managing stakeholder expectations, communications, status reporting, budget management, schedule management, performance reporting, etc.) to an IT program. Owns Project / program issue resolution and risk management.
- Develop and manage accurate, reliable, and realistic project plans and schedules, estimates, resource plans, recovery efforts, governance, project meetings, and status reporting. Manage budget and timelines to ensure critical projects are delivered on time and on budget.
- In an environment evolving in its agile maturity, may act as a Scrum Master responsible to leverage various agile frameworks, including Scrum, Kanban, and SAFe, depending upon team or program constraints, collaborating with Product Owners, and facilitating agile events as needed, such as planning, sprints, stand-ups, and retrospectives.
- Builds and maintains effective on-going communications and relationships between the IT project team and management to ensure that the IT project is completed in a manner that satisfies project objectives.
- Follows MetLife’s approved SDLC and project management methodology, ensuring that all required steps are followed, all required deliverables are produced, all approvals are obtained, and projects are delivered on time and within established budget.
Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, or related field
- 8+ years related work experience delivering IT solutions using Software Development Life Cycle methodologies (i.e.: Waterfall, Iterative, Agile, etc.)
- 4-6+ years project / program management experience
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational skills and understands what it takes to deliver software with exposure to large-scale systems
- Proficient with office automation tools (MS Office Suite of Products-Intermediate skills-Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Project)
Preferred:
- PMP, ITIL certification
- Experienced with managing offshore teams and/or vendors
- Successful in building partnerships across the organization and lead teams with a shared goal
- Exceptional analytical skills with demonstrated ability to apply analysis to actionable insights
- Strong relationship management and facilitation skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
