Role Value Proposition: 

The Jr. Splunk Analyst will help mature MetLife’s infrastructure vulnerability management program by using their Splunk and big data analytics expertise to advance reporting capabilities.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development of enhanced analytics and reporting capabilities using Splunk, with the goal of enhancing the holistic view of vulnerabilities from all sources across all assets.  These capabilities will aid in remediation prioritization, metrics tracking and reporting, vulnerability impact analysis, and incident support.
  • Iteratively design, build, and maintain searches, visualizations, and dashboards of vulnerability and asset data aggregated from various sources for use in regular metrics reports and ad hoc analytics efforts.
  • Use Splunk to analyze vulnerability data and provide actionable insights to drive more effective remediation strategies.
  • Collaborate with vulnerability management team and others to define requirements
  • Educate the vulnerability management team and other internal customers on use of the platform and Splunk in general.
  • Perform additional ad hoc Splunk tasks as needed
  • Lead or support additional projects as directed by cyber security management 


Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:


  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems or related field, or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum of 4 years hands on experience with Splunk in a data analytics role, preferably in an information security function and familiarity with SPLUNK common information models
  • Strong scripting skills, particularly regular expressions and/or Python
  • Understanding of vulnerability management, operational processes, IT general controls, and security controls
  • Willingness to proactively identify gaps in processes and take steps to address them
  • Experience working in complex, diverse and global (international) environments and possess excellent communication and presentation skills and ability to effectively delegate work to peers



  • Security certifications a plus
