Role Value Proposition: 

MetLife is seeking an IT Solution Architect to join its Enterprise Architecture team supporting corporate systems IT. The architect will work closely with the director of the group and will be responsible for delivering solution designs. This role will be focused on enabling architectural strategies for MetLife including DevOps, Testing Technology, Business of IT and IT Service Management. The ideal candidate will have strong business and technology acumen in order to develop sound architecture solutions that will meet and exceed business needs.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Define and design MetLife’s Application Lifecycle Management architecture, ensuring design meets the objectives of stakeholders across the end to end delivery lifecycle
  • Advance the state of the art of our DevOps processes by evolving current state and building a roadmap to the future
  • Evolve the testing architecture by evaluating automated testing strategies and technologies while translating that into a consistent solution design
  • Evolve MetLife’s business of IT architecture to enable better alignment and visibility across IT, Business and Finance functions
  • Consult and advise business and IT partners on various business solutions as needed
  • Maintain big picture architecture focus while working on individual projects and solution architectures


Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:


  • Bachelor’s degree required, major in an Engineering discipline or related technical field strongly preferred
  • 2+ years IT experience in application development with experience with portfolio & project management processes & technologies and SDLC
  • Full stack development in Object Oriented (.NET, JAVA) or scripting (Node.js, JavaScript, PowerShell) languages to deliver end to end solutions (client, app, middleware and data tiers)
  • Experience providing consultation and support to IT teams resolving technical issues (e.g. compatibility, implementation, etc.)
  • Hands on experience with continuous integration, testing and delivery processes and technologies



  • Experience with various DevOps tools including Atlassian suite, TFS, etc. and/or exposure to micro-services and container architectures e.g. Docker, Kubernetes
  • Knowledge of DevOps automation for full stack change management (ansible, chef, puppet) with experience in understanding, analyzing, applying, and communicating abstract architectural concepts
  • Hands on exposure with test automation, test data management, test analytics and test driven design
  • Enterprise IT Service management platforms, bill of IT solutions, ITIL and the Technology Business Management (TBM) framework
  • Knowledge of security architecture patterns and technologies
  • Application of cloud concepts such as IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, ideally with a major cloud provider
  • Applied use of big data architectures is highly desirable including experience with at least one of the following: RDBMS, NoSQL, Hadoop, HBase, Hive
