Role Value Proposition: 

The Software Asset Management Senior Consultant's role is to support and proactively manage key software vendors' compliance positions managed by the organization.  This role focuses on key corporate priorities for IT assets by controlling costs, enhancing operational efficiency, ensuring regulatory compliance, and mitigating security & financial risks.  Objectives include: tracking and managing IT software assets throughout their life cycle, providing accurate and complete asset information is available to support financial reporting and forecasting, manage asset-related liabilities and risks, improve customer service and responsiveness, and establishing a foundation for services, including Configuration Management.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Generate reports and analysis for software installation and usage data in support of determining license compliance
  • Maintain knowledge of vendor-specific licensing terms and management practices
  • Proactively manage critical IT Software Assets using the necessary tools, and ensure relevant lifecycle stages are accurately managed
  • Communicate SAM data to end-users, management teams, vendors, and procurement
  • Work and collaborate with end-users, system administrators, software developers, and packagers, and procurement to respond to IT software data requests
  • Identify and communicate any gaps with software compliance to appropriate parties
  • Manage and report on all IT software maintenance renewals, proactively work with application owners and SAM leadership to implement renewals strategies
  • Assist in improving the software asset management lifecycle, including procurement and acquisition, compliance, future planning, and costing processes
  • Develop and publish reports and key metrics intended to monitor and enforce best practices, compliance, and overall program health
  • Conduct research in support of vendor-specific activities such as purchasing and contract requirements review
  • Support SAM initiatives with data collection during internal and external audit activities
  • Maintain essential asset information, and provide ongoing ownership of reports on missing data  points, as well as maintain reports to maximize the value of existing and future software purchases, maintenance contracts, and service offerings


Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related major or equivalent combination of training and work experience
  • 5+ years successful asset management experience
  • Exposure to Flexera, ServiceNow, and/or Microsoft SCCM
  • Good communication and strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Access, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Attention to detail and able to digest complex reports and vendor compliance issues to brief and concise reports
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment


  • Advanced vendor-specific licensing knowledge a plus
