Role Value Proposition: 

MetLife’s Software Developer of Enterprise Human Resources Information Technology Systems is responsible for partnering with business leaders, third party vendors and IT Executives to lead global HR transformation projects at MetLife with the goal of attracting, developing and retaining top talent across the organization. Specifically, this position will be part of a fast pace IT team responsible for making common services available to the Global Technology Employee Experience team. The services provided enable Employee Workforce Metrics and Analytics capabilities, as well as management of the Employee Integration Hub data model and API’s. 


Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with IT and business leads to define projects, collecting requirements, coordinating efforts to scope, schedule, and deploy new features
  • Participates in solution architecture, design, development, code reviews, implementation and maintenance phases of analytics and reporting projects
  • Build innovative predictive models and analytics capabilities
  • Creates and maintains ETL specifications and process documentation to produce the required data deliverables (data profiling, source to target maps, ETL flows).
  • Defines logical and physical data models.
  • Creates and maintains physical layer, business layer and presentation layer RPD models.
  • Assigns ETL work and tracks progress of off-shore ODI developers.
  • Configures and tunes ETL infrastructure to optimize the data warehousing architecture.
  • Troubleshoots and resolves data, system and performance issues.


Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:



  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • 5+ years software development experience in one or more of the following areas: ETL, Business Analytics and Data Warehouse applications
  • Minimum 1 year experience with Human Resource reporting in Workforce and Recruitment, but Talent and Succession Planning a plus
  • Experience with Oracle Data Visualizer or other analytics platforms such as Tableau, PowerBI, QlickView is a plus
  • Experience using formal test planning and design techniques.
  • Solid background in computer science, data science and mathematics
  • Experience with statistical programming languages/packages for analysis and data mining – R, SAS, Stata, Alteryx, Python
  • Experience working with various data technologies such as RDBMS
  • Experience leading medium sized projects with the ability to manage through competing priorities
  • Strong analytical skills, an attention to detail, good judgement, strong oral and written communication skills, and the ability to self-start and self-motivate
  • Ability to translate functional requirements into technical specifications and executable deliverables.


  • Experience working with Big Data Technologies (HDFS, Hive) or Document DBs
  • Experience implementing HR Analytics Oracle BI Application 11g
  • Understanding of customer intelligence practices, profiling and predictive modeling
  • Dimensional modeling skills
  • Proven skill in optimizing data loads, reporting efficiency and maintenance using appropriate ODI, DDL and RPD designs preferably in an Oracle database environment
  • Experience with Smart export and import features is a plus.
  • One year of experience working in an OMCS environment
  • Experience with IBM Tivoli/Maestro Scheduler
  • A diverse work experience with strategic viewpoint
  • Minimum one year experience managing off-shore developers.
  • Experience in Agile methodology: Scrum, Kanban, Lean, etc.
