Role Value Proposition: 

The DevOps Senior Planning and Strategy Consultant has responsibility for supporting the creation and management of an enterprise wide program focused on DevOps transformation throughout the Global Technology organization.  This position will contribute as part of the Center of Excellence Working Group (CWG) within the Global Infrastructure and Technology Operations (GITO) organization but will interact with all teams throughout the larger Global Technology enterprise.  The goal of this position will be to establish guidelines, governance, and metrics for measuring organizational success (Key Performance Indicators, or KPIs) while also working collaboratively with both internal and external consultants, as well as with business and technology partners.

    

Key Responsibilities:  

  • Establish guidelines and program governance related documentation
  • Creation of materials that can be used as playbooks and references, refining marketing and communication materials, managing to tight schedules, applying project management principles for planning, follow up and deadline adherence, gathering relevant industry research, and applying feedback to enhance decision making.  
  • Help prioritize Center of Excellence build out and implementation efforts
  • Research and recommend operational metrics for measuring the success and impact of DevOps transformation efforts
  • Align DevOps related KPIs to the MetLife Enterprise strategy and to the GITO Strategic Priorities
  • Champion team building as well as cross-organizational communication and alignment
  • Track milestones, dependencies and open issues related to DevOps transformation progression as well as the effectiveness of the Center of Excellence Governance structure
  • Contribute to marketing and communication materials, including presentations, MyMetLife.com communications, emails and status reports

 

Required:

  • Accomplished change management leader, able to operate effectively in a highly matrix environment
  • Highly effective communicator - verbally, over email and through use of PowerPoint and other tools
  • Has excellent working knowledge of, or comfortable researching IT metrics, key performance indicators, and organizational transformation performance measures
  • Competencies: Strong interpersonal skills, highly collaborative, excellent presentation skills, consistently operates with professionalism, outstanding listening skills, sound business judgment, analytical capabilities, ability to influence, can operate independently with minimal direction, solid organizational skills with strong planning, follow-up and attention to detail
  • Must operate with a sense of urgency and be comfortable pushing progress with minimal direction
  • 6+ years of related experience

 

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree with major in business or technology related field; MBA or other advanced degree added bonus
  • Management consulting background  
  • Business analytics
  • Has created, implemented and automated operational metrics leveraging industry best practices and standardization
  • Worked with IT Engineering, Network Infrastructure and/or IT Operations groups at some capacity
  • Program Management Office experience as a key contributor to enterprise wide programs and large-scale transformations
  • Formal team leadership background
