Role Value Proposition: 

Corporate Systems Life IT team support applications for Actuarial Business functions including regulatory compliance and reporting.

Key Responsibilities:  

The Scrum Master will drive the Agile-based software development lifecycle creating necessary standards, tools, and best practices in IT. This individual will facilitate one or more SCRUM/Agile teams to deliver quality business results on time and within budget. They will assist during organization transition through the SDLC process by coaching and mentoring staff.

  • Act as SCRUM master for 1-2 SCRUM teams with a focus on guiding the teams towards process improvement.  Participate in project teams as necessary.
  • Facilitate sprint planning using Team Foundation Server and/or JIRA
  • Assist product owner with management of backlog.
  • Ensure cross-team coordination.
  • Maintain relevant metrics that help the team monitor performance.
  • Send out regular communication to IT and Business management team.
  • Liaise between teams and foster communication.
  • Coach and mentor other SCRUM masters on product team.  Ensure consistent processes across teams.
  • Work with the larger company network to identify and remove impediments.
  • Train new staff in AGILE methodology.

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

  • Excellent communications (written & oral), planning, interpersonal and time management skills.

  • 3+ years of experience with Microsoft’s Team Foundation Server (TFS) AGILE automation tool

  • 3+ years of experience facilitating one or more AGILE teams

  • 3+ years of experience in working with IT systems as a SCRUM Master (All Levels)

  • Deep understanding of AGILE methodology – SCRUM, Kanban.  Understanding of other processes and methodologies to be able to leverage various techniques to provide value to a team/enterprise

  • Familiarity with common Agile practices, service-oriented environments, and better development practices.  Understanding of backlog tracking, burn down metrics, velocity, and task definition

  • Ability to work with ambiguous and conflicting information while keeping focused on the end goal.

  • The candidate must have experience adapting to an environment with quickly changing business priorities.

  • Bachelor Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or other related field


 Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Atlassian’s JIRA

  • SCRUM Master Certification

  • PMP certification
