Role Value Proposition: 

Software Asset Management Principle role is to lead and expand the SAM team’s functions and capabilities.  This role will be interfacing directly with consultants, vendors, internal executive teams, and software product owners. This position will have direct oversight and responsibly over the organizations software asset management services, and will work with both internal IT organizations and external vendors to ensure IT requests adhere to established governance and the asset management lifecycle.  The Principal will be expected to track and manage IT assets throughout their life cycle, ensuring accurate and complete asset information is available to support financial reporting and forecasting, manage asset-related liabilities and risks, and improve customer service and responsiveness.    

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategize all key components necessary for the ongoing maturity of the SAM program utilizing industry based knowledge of people, processes, and technology and maintain visibility with the greater organization
  • Oversight of the complete software asset management lifecycle, and work to identify and manage control points and key performance indicators
  • Effectively communicate and escalate compliance issues and remediation tasks needed across the organizational landscape
  • Lead negotiations both internally and externally with vendors regarding new software agreements, renewals, professional services, and audit activities
  • Report to leadership the state of the organization via KPIs, CSFs, as well as regular dashboards, process lifecycle improvement, and trend reports

 

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

Required:

 

  • 8+ years successful asset management experience
  • High level knowledge of SAM tools (ex. Flexera, SCCM, and ServiceNow)
  • Negotiation experience of new software contracts and renewals with Tier 1 software vendors (ex. Microsoft, IBM, and Oracle)
  • Attention to detail and able to digest complex reports and vendor compliance issues to succinct and concise reports
  • Well versed in IT Asset Management as well as Service Asset Management and the ITIL framework

 

Preferred: 

  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related major or equivalent work experience
  • Previous implementation at a global level a plus
  • Experience with internal and external audit procedures
