The Principal Software Engineer performs a critical role in designing, developing and delivering Global Party Management system solutions, in alignment with MetLife’s Enterprise Data Management Strategy. Global Party Management data warehouse provides 360 degree view of MetLife customers. The principal Software Engineer supports evaluation and selection of existing (or creation of new) best practices, design patterns, and frameworks suitable to successfully develop and deliver large and/or complex programs and projects.

 

The Principal Software Engineer will lead on-site and offshore development teams, engage participants, influence approach, generate artifacts, solicit feedback, communicate and drive collaboration with key stakeholders and senior business leaders across the Strategy, Delivery, Enterprise Architecture, QA and other organizations across MetLife’s Global Technology and Operations (GTO) and Lines of Business (LOBs). 

    

Key Responsibilities: 

 

The Principal Software Engineer, Data & Analytics is accountable for the requirement analysis, solution architecture, design, development, integration and implementation leveraging Enterprise platform and architecture. The candidate serves as a technical expert to the project team and must demonstrate knowledge of database, Informatica MDM, web services, data warehouse implementation processes, ETL, data profiling and data lineage

  • Responsible for SDLC, technical design and development, aligns technical solutions with ‎business strategy and enterprise standard, and ensures that technical deliverables are ‎on track
  • Share responsibility of overall delivery of the track with Project Manager, and ensure ‎‎technical tasks and risks are defined and incorporated into project plan
  • Develop functional knowledge and subject matter expertise required to execute as a technical lead. Provide technical leadership for architecting and maintaining robust and scalable solutions Lead and mentor peers and junior team members.
  • Work in a highly cross-functional environment, partner with multiple businesses and IT teams. Lead multiple projects simultaneously
  • Identify opportunities for improvement, optimization and innovation, leveraging best practices.

 

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

Required:

  • 10+ years’ experience in leading, architecting, designing  an Enterprise data warehouse and application development using advance Informatica techniques
  • 6+ years of experience effectively leading or participating in matrixed teams and strong facilitation and team building skills as well as previous experience coaching and mentoring team members.
  • 5+ years of experience in web development. Java, J2EE framework, scripting languages (JSON, An script), Web Server  (IBM WebSphere, Apache Tomcat)
  • 3+ years of experience  in Informatica MDM
  • 1+ year experience in Big Data components.  HDFS, Hive, and Spark.

 

Preferred: 

  • Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or other related field preferred, or equivalent work experience required. 
  • Previous experience in insurance, financial services or management consulting organizations.
  • Experience in Informatica 10.2 Integration with Big data clusters. 
  • Knowledge on NoSQL, and search engines
