The Hosting department of MetLife is focused on providing world-class, enterprise infrastructure and OS solution for the applications that MetLife uses every day. The Infrastructure Solution Architect for Hosting provides expertise in research, evaluation, engineering design, and delivery of hosting solutions for MetLife’s applications. This Principal level position requires strong leadership, self-initiative, and technical acumen to lead and deliver on critical projects and meet commitments. Success in this role will depend on the candidate’s ability to focus on evaluating existing implementations, building strong partnerships, and create consensus to develop projects for new or improved hosting solutions. This role delivers the ability for MetLife to implement complex infrastructure solutions under a consistent global strategy with a strong understanding of the applications hosted in these environments.

Key Responsibilities:

• As a Principal, candidate is a global enterprise expert in multiple domains who views infrastructure for solutions as holistically interconnected applications across various platforms
• Provides Detailed Design Documents and architectural guidance to perform technical evaluations of new technologies through a hands-on approach
• Work cross functionally to develop best practices, unified enterprise technology standards, and provide recommendations for improvement
• Evaluate new and existing solutions and develop and maintain system roadmaps
• Assist in the selection, design, development, and implementation of virtualization at scale solutions including eco-system components (e.g., monitoring, automation, orchestration, service management)
• Acts as escalation to resolve complex production issues and provide root cause analysis
   

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

Required:

• 8+ years’ experience or familiarity with application architecture (3-tier applications, container architecture)
• 8+ years’ related work experience with Linux and Windows and their related components
• 5+ years’ experience or familiarity with networking and storage architectures
• 5+ years’ scripting for automation/orchestration – PowerShell, Bash, Python, YAML, JSON, etc.
• 5+ years’ experience generating system architecture documentation
• Expert at visualizing IT infrastructure components end-to-end using tools such as Visio, PowerPoint, or Miro
• Experience as a Technical Lead, providing technical guidance, mentorship, and oversight to peers
• Experience creating and communicating complex architectural runways to agile focused teams

Preferred:

• 4-year degree in any Information Technology field or equivalent professional certifications
• Microsoft Azure foundational knowledge
• Windows Server, RHEL, and general UNIX
• Chef or Ansible orchestration
• Source control (GitHub, Bitbucket, or similar)
• Experience with how applications are implemented and maintained on infrastructure as a full solution
• Understanding of related technologies such as SAN storage, replication, disaster recovery and converged infrastructure
• Experience in working closely with Procurement/Vendor Management teams on purchases and acquisitions
