Role Value Proposition: 

MetLife is seeking a Principal, Solutions Designer to join our growing team in Cary, NC.   The team member will participate in design of technical solutions, establish and enforce architectural standards across the project portfolio, support the definition of optimized business process models, and determine technology related business benefits.

 

Key Responsibilities:  

  • Process Evaluation and Design: Deliver process maps and roles and responsibilities
  • High level design of solutions based on the business requirements and future state strategy: Create high level architectural diagrams and functional diagrams when necessary
  • Analyze current technology infrastructure and recommend a path to achieve strategic objectives: Define and maintain the strategic system road map
  • Facilitate cross team decisions based on overall project benefits, costs, and time line: Manage to the agreed upon change request options, or cross team solutions that fit into existing time, cost, and effort
  • Produce High Level Design (Context View)
  • Consult on architecture functional view diagrams
  • Ensure alignment with road map
  • Ensure business value is delivered (ensure the project delivers incremental improvements to expected strategic business value)
  • Lead/participate in the project look back
  • Review of business requirements and business process
  • Assignment of system(s) to deliver requirements
  • High level iterations to deliver overall scope
  • Ensure that business process / requirements sync session occurs
  • Participate in the Use Case Sync sessions
  • Review and approval of Use Cases and change requests
  • Ensure alignment with standard patterns
  • Steering committee member
  • Cross team issue resolution and design

 

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

 Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering or related field
  • 8 + years of related work experience with some exposure to large scale, global environments
  • Ability to examine business goals, objectives, and requirements and define business processes that align with the future state business processes
  • Ability to analyze objectives and requirements and define complex solutions
  • Strategic thinking and critical analysis of existing and future objects
  • Excellent analytical skills, using logic to solve complex problems
  • Organized and good at managing deliverables, meeting notes, presentations and other documentation/communications

 

Preferred:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to clearly articulate to all project members and stakeholders
  • Strong active listening skills with high capability to read-react
  • Team player who works well with technical and non-technical resources
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, Access, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Other Key Qualities: Inquisitive, agile concept, versatility, ability to challenge status quo
