Linux Performance/Capacity Analyst

Role Value Proposition: 

The Capacity Planning & Performance Optimization function is responsible for tracking and forecasting capacity demand, measuring workload performance, and optimizing hardware resources for efficiency and cost containment.  The Analysts on this team play a critical role in ensuring infrastructure and application stability in a rapidly changing environment.

    

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide historical capacity trend analyses for infrastructure migrations and workload changes
  • Review performance baselines, capacity thresholds, and other KPIs for Linux environment
  • Identify opportunities to increase efficiency and reduce risk for VMware and Linux
  • Partner with domain engineers to ensure capacity plans meet agreed upon performance levels
  • Revise capacity and performance reports as necessary to ensure information is relevant and actionable
  • Support team efforts relating to incident investigation, root cause analysis and service requests

 

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

 

Required:

  • 4+ years’ proven experience supporting Linux-based operating systems
  • Solid conceptual understanding and practical experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware
  • Strong knowledge of server infrastructure, including HP blades, UCS blades, and IBM Power equipment
  • 3+ years’ experience in all phases of server management including capacity planning or performance tuning
  • Good oral, written, and presentation skills, with exceptional customer service orientation

 

Preferred:

  • Background in scripting and automation  
  • Proficiency in Excel with data analysis and trending knowledge
  • Familiarity with cloud technologies and concepts
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems or 5 year’s IT industry experience
