The Data Analytics Consultant resides within Global Procurement’s Center of Excellence and has responsibility for providing analytical services, across the source to pay process, to assigned stakeholders.

 

  • The Data Analytics Consultant is responsible for partnering with the Technical Lead for extracting, aggregating, cleansing, categorizing, preparing and performing comprehensive analytics on data for their assigned area of focus.

 

  • The consultant will partner with their assigned Stakeholders to turn data into information, information into insight and insights into recommended business decisions for sourcing and operational Stakeholders that will ultimately result in increased value and efficiency for MetLife
  • Analytical insights will be delivered, and presented to Stakeholder’s, on a recurring and ad-hoc basis in the form of scheduled reports, ad-hoc reports, performance dashboards, category strategy analysis and other strategic activities

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Review spend and savings data from an accuracy perspective and for the purposes of identifying anomalies & opportunities
  • Prepare and present monthly reporting and dashboards to domestic Procurement Leader and Category Lead Stakeholders
  • Lead spend data collection & categorization activities for countries in which systems are not deployed
  • Prepare and present quarterly procurement summaries and dashboards to Regional and Country
  • Prepare and present Category Strategy Analysis for the purposes of Stakeholder’s Category Strategy Development
  • Additional ad-hoc spend analysis activities, Stakeholder and LOB meetings
  • Participate and present to Stakeholders during offsite strategy sessions

 

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

Required:

  • Technical
    • Highly proficient at advanced Excel tools, formulas and visual creation
    • Highly proficient at PowerPoint including how best to format content based on the audience
    • Understanding of dimensional data modeling concepts
    • Familiarity with visual analytics tools
  • Analytical
    • Employing best practices to analyze large amounts of data while maintaining intense attention to detail
    • Possess strong critical thinking by being able to skillfully analyze, assess and reconstruct a problem
    • Questioning established business practices and brainstorming new approaches to data analysis
    • Ability to extract intrinsic value in data and transform into meaningful insights
  • Communication
    • Communicate and present – both verbally and in writing – complex data and analytical insights clearly and concisely to Stakeholders, Senior management and others across the enterprise
    • Ability to actively listen for explicit and implied meaning
    • Ability to work both independently and as a team player

 

Preferred:

    • At a minimum, B.S. degree in Supply Chain/Operations/Sourcing, Finance, Mathematics or Computer Science or 3+ years of demonstrated experience
    • Familiarity and exposure to the source to contract process, including spend analysis and sourcing strategy development.
    • Familiarity and exposure to the requisition to PO process, including requisition systems, approval workflows, requisition compliance and PO creation
