Role Value Proposition: 

The primary objective of the Lead IT Process Automation Administrator is to design and develop automated solutions to complex operational support processes within Global Technology & Operations organization at MetLife. A successful candidate will have generous Systems Admin background in one or more OSes including, Linux, Windows, AIX, etc. and will have a demonstrated proficiency, desire and passion to automate solutions to repetitive or mundane tasks. Experience with IT Process Automation (ITPA), Run Book Automation (RBA), Business Process Automation (BPA) or other methods of applying technology solutions to virtual or human intensive is essential.  This is not a DEVOPS role; however the skills required for success in that function are transferable to this position. Ultimately the IT Process Automation Administrator is responsible for analyzing, implementing and supporting the tools, processes and procedures needed to achieve high-quality automation services in a large enterprise environment.

 

Key Responsibilities:  

  • Increase operational efficiencies through design and implementation of the automation of daily repetitive activities that are performed by infrastructure, database, application and network administrators.
  • Develop flexible reusable standard automation workflows and document the maintenance of the tools, processes, and procedures used to manage the automation environment
  • Collaborate with multiple teams to understand complex systems and applications architecture in order to implement a cohesive automation strategy focused on holistic service availability.
  • Enhance the automation platform by embracing complementary technologies and integrations that will increase organizational capabilities
  • Stay informed of new trends in automation and support, evaluate alternative approaches and service requirements, and recommend initiatives
  • Utilize processes and technologies to support automation at scale
  • Act as evangelist for automation function and team

 

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

 

Required:

  • 7+ years of experience supporting a large IT data center environment, including support of multiple hardware and software platforms and operating systems such as Windows, Linux/UNIX
  • 5+ years of experience using programming or scripting languages such as PowerShell, LINUX Shell, Python, PERL, VBScript,  Ruby
  • 4+ years of experience of automation with experience in the implementation and operation of at least one major platform such as IPcenter,  BMC Atrium Orchestrator, HP Operations Orchestration,  ServiceNow, System Center Orchestrator, Ayehu Eyeshare, Automic, Ansible Tower, Puppet, Chef, or similar
  • 7+ years of experience with ITSM, monitoring, incident, change, service request, repository and supporting software tools
  • 4+ years of experience with data exchange protocols or web service technologies such as JSON, Simple Object Access protocol (SOAP) or Representational State Transfer (REST)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related technology field, or equivalent work experience    

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience in a broad range of enterprise technologies including Windows and LINUX Servers, storage, network, middleware, database, virtualization, batch and cloud
  • Ability to perform effectively in both independent and team settings, maintaining focus on multiple tasks and projects 
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to build effective partnerships with peer groups, vendors, etc
  • ADP or equivalent certification preferred, or must be obtained within 6 months of employment US citizenship is a requirement for certification
