Role Value Proposition:

MetLife’s Illustrations team provides key document access and tools to our MetLife customer service representatives that service both our MetLife customers and Brighthouse Financial customers.  The Illustrations team is an organization with a combined onsite and offshore diverse team of technologists, working towards the common goal of ensuring the customer is at the center of everything we do.  As a software engineer in the Illustrations team, you will be responsible for development of solutions and the technical design of a suite of applications that provide Illustrations. In this role, the candidate will be responsible for driving technical decisions, best practices, and development of systems. The solutions currently leverage .net architecture, WPF and REST API. The technical environment is also being modernized as we work with systems of record in Azure.

 

 Key Responsibilities:

  • Key member of agile team performing design, development and maintenance of scalable and efficient data pipelines to process data using .net, WPF, REST API.
  • 5-7 years of hands on development with .Net Core 6.0 MVC or higher and SQL 2019 or higher.
  • Participate in Epic, Feature and Story definitions with Product Owners and Agile team to understand business needs, gather requirements, assist in user story breakdown, definition and estimation. 
  • Mentor and lead team in adopting best practices in documentation, development, and deployment.
  • Improve/ re-engineer/ debug existing solutions.
  • Serve as an escalation point for deployments, and change oversight, enabling highly visible business priorities. 

 

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:  

Required:  

  • Advanced knowledge of the principles of computer application including software engineering, system analysis and design, design and analysis of algorithms, digital systems, computer system architecture, data structures, computer networks, database management system, and problem solving and computer programming, among others.
  • 5-7 years of experience in .net development.
  • Knowledge of Azure build and pipeline design.
  • Preferred SAFe experience, good understanding of Agile development and design practices with hands on experience in scrum and agile practices.
  • Working knowledge of CI/CD pipelines
  • Working knowledge of Jira, Azure DevOps or similar
  • Optimize and tune queries to meet performance requirements.
  • Excellent grasp and understanding of use cases for SQL databases.
  • Good understanding of code management, release management and CI/CD
  • Strong communication skills to interact with on/offshore team members, and agile team.

Preferred: 

  • Power Apps knowledge
  • Preferred Cloud apps knowledge
  • Background working in Financial services Insurance and/or Banking 
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, Engineering or related field
