MetLife is the leading provider of Group Benefits to National Account clients.  The Group Benefits Solutions Delivery organization is a diverse team of Business Systems Analysts and Project Managers, all working towards the common goal of ensuring the customer is at the center of everything we do.  As a Lead Business Systems Analyst in the Group Benefits Solutions Delivery organization in Cary NC, you are responsible to act as the primary liaison between Business Users, Application Development, Quality Assurance, and Project teams to analyze user needs, and to lead development of functional requirements and design documentation for medium to large size projects of Sales, Underwriting, or similar projects. 

    

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Lead development of functional requirements definition and design documentation for Group Benefits Sales, Underwriting, or similar projects; Manage user expectations and requirements scope; Facilitate functional requirements walkthroughs and respond to Test team ambiguity review questions.
  • Drive alignment between business users and technical teams; Gathers, reviews, analyzes, and translates the business needs and vision into functionality that align to the overall MetLife ecosystem strategy and roadmap; Participates in fit/gap analysis of functional requirements.
  • Act as a primary SME liaison between business users/BAs and IT project team. Work with key IT partners to ensure adherence to the company’s standards for software and hardware platforms, advise on software policies and best practice, provide work estimates for BSA work efforts on new projects and for on-going forecasting.
  • Work closely with Project Manager, architects, developers, Test team, business users/BAs and applicable outside entities; Lead functional documentation design (user stories, use cases, functional specifications, reports, screen prototypes).
  • Actively participates in change management activities; Assist Production incident/issue analysis as needed (e.g. root cause analysis of owned applications).

 

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

 

Required:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, Engineering or other related field, or equivalent demonstrated work experience and/or BSA certifications.
  • 7+ years business systems analysis experience, or comparable business and technical experience
  • Significant Software Development Life Cycle knowledge and experience, or comparable methodologies
  • Adept experience in creating and presenting Business and/or Functional Requirements Specification documents, User Stories, etc.  Excellent verbal and written communication skills.  Ability to establish strong relationships.
  • Background and experience using programming languages; Experience doing data analysis and using query languages; functional testing
  • Microsoft Suite of Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio (or other design tools))

 

Preferred:

 

  • 2+ years technical experience with Salesforce.com strongly preferred
  • Salesforce Certified preferred
  • Experience translating business requirements into customer-facing solutions with focus on end-user experience/usability; requirements management tools
  • Strong systems analyst skills and technical background to support review of technical proposals for IT projects and systems
  • Experience working in Financial Services, Insurance and/or Banking experience
  • Experience with MS Excel formula, formula creation, debugging, and verification helpful
  • Agile/Lean, ITIL, CBAP experience and certifications
