MetLife is seeking a Lead Business Systems Analyst to join our growing team in Cary, NC. The team member will lead development of functional requirements and design documentation, facilitates testing and training. Gathers, reviews, analyzes, and evaluates user needs. The Lead Business Systems Analyst will possess strong communication skills to be able to interact with business partners and other associated teams to ensure both production items and development items are transparent to all parties involved.  Proficient in producing business requirements and working with all teams to ensure accurate requirements are documented.  Ability to employ Database technologies including SQL and Oracle to help with data mining and troubleshooting and development activities  and knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle, both waterfall and agile. 


Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage user expectations and scope requirements
  • Participates in fit/gap analysis of functional requirements
  • Facilitate function requirements walkthroughs and respond to Test team ambiguity review questions
  • Lead functional documentation design (use cases, functional specifications, reports, screen prototypes)
  • Create & Review Test Cases and on occasion be required to mentor less experienced team members.
  • Collaborate closely with Project Manager, architects, developers, Test team business users/Bas and applicable outside entities (vendors and others)
  • Contribute to development of user guides, reference manuals, training materials and code release artifacts as appropriate.
  • Provides estimates for BSA work efforts on new projects and for on-going forecasting.


Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

  • 7+ years of experience within a given function (e.g., Finance, Credit/Risk).
  • Accomplished change management leader, able to operate effectively in a highly matrix environment.
  • Articulate and confidant to express opinion that will help the team and organization especially during requirements gathering and change management discussions.
  • Proven record of working in a team and collaborative environment.
  • Actively participates in change management activities.
  • Provides estimates for BSA work efforts on new projects and on-going projects
  • Capable of simplifying complex concepts and ideas.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.




Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration or other related field, or equivalent work experience

  • 5-7 years business systems analysis experience or comparable business experience.
  • Minimum of 4 years of analytical experience.
  • Investment/Insurance data analysis experience.
  • Capable of leading small teams of BSAs or IT Development Resources.



  • Certification in Business Systems Analysis.
  • Background in programming \software development.
  • Have knowledge of Metfacs2 application that is part of Corporate Systems portfolio.
  • Experience with requirements management and collaboration tools (Blueprint, iRise or equivalent).
  • Experience with Agile methodology.
  • Experience with other various business analytical tools and business analyst methodologies (waterfall).
  • Assist in fulfilling SOX and other compliance requests.
