Role Value Proposition

MetLife is seeking a Lead Architect to join its Enterprise Architecture team supporting US Business. As a Lead Architect, you will work closely with the Director of the group and will be responsible for defining the system components, services, technologies, and design required to implement a solution that represents an intersect of elements from MetLife’s Business, Information, Application, and Technology architecture domains, and addresses a specific Business opportunity or problem. The ideal candidate will have strong business & technology acumen and can translate business vision and strategy into effective enterprise change by creating, communicating, and improving the key requirements, principles and models that describe the enterprise’s future state and enable its evolution.


Key Responsibilities

  • Domain expertise in Data, Integration & Operational Architecture, and Cloud Technologies
  • Responsible for creating, analyzing, and communicating system architectures, application design patterns, and reference architectures/standards 
  • Work closely with software engineers, security professionals, infrastructure engineers, and other Enterprise Architects in validating and implementing proposed solutions.
  • Responsible for the assessment, documentation, and governance of technologies used for digital platforms and solutions.
  • Leads or participates on matrix team projects as assigned.


Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills 

Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, Engineering or related field
  • 5+ years’ experience in Software Engineering or Architecture, and strong technical experience with building enterprise scale solutions
  • Demonstrated expertise in security, operational, and resiliency architecture principles
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with focused attention to details, as well as demonstrated professionalism and time/task management skills
  • Strong analytical skills with demonstrated ability to apply analysis to actionable insights
  • Demonstrated influencing and negotiating skills
  • Demonstrated business acumen especially in insurance and financial industries and systems
  • IT Experience in enterprise-scale organizations in an architecture role
  • Knowledge of multiple architecture disciplines, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience

 

Preferred:

  • 2+ years knowledge with Cloud Computing platforms with preferred experience in Azure
  • Strong Software Development Life Cycle knowledge and experience, particularly Agile and DevOps
  • Experience and/or trained in one or more formal architecture frameworks such as TOGAF, or Zachman.
