Role Value Proposition: 

  • Our group is responsible for data used throughout MetLife to support decision-making and operations, with a particular emphasis on support for the Group Employee Benefits line of business.
  • We are also responsible for delivering data to our customers, in accordance with SLAs and with performance guarantees, so they can make timely decisions.
  • Our Group develops ETL solutions in SSIS and Informatica to deliver data to SQL Server and DB2 databases, and leads programs with partners in business intelligence, analytics, and application development to deliver end-to-end data-centric solutions.
  • We are in the midst of a large-scale technology transition designed to help MetLife better respond to its customers and market, and require forward-thinking managers that can help accelerate that transition while ensure that day-to-day operations are not adversely impacted.    

 

    

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Ensure the timely delivery of data to stakeholders, in accordance with established SLAs, through proactive management of a portfolio of approximately twenty data repositories and associated applications.
  • Ensure that project commitments for enhancement, maintenance, and regulatory projects are met, on time, on budget, and with acceptable quality, while also ensuring that employee billable utilization targets are met.
  • Ensure that the group’s budgets for software development, infrastructure, application maintenance, and compliance and regulatory activities are appropriately estimated and submitted for approval; ensure that budgets for infrastructure and vendor expenses are properly managed.
  • Ensure employee engagement and career development across the Core Delivery team, with a particular emphasis on acquisition on new skills to support our technology transition. Direct management of a group of managers within the Core Delivery team. Maintain a culture of continuous improvement and learning.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements and MetLife policies, including but not limited to the areas of finance, privacy, and security. Develop and continuously improve team processes to ensure objectives are met and the team works together effectively and efficiently.

 

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

Required:

  • Ten plus years of Software Development experience
  • Five plus years’ experience in data focused roles (Business Intelligence, Database, ETL, Advanced Analytic systems)
  • Demonstrated experience with people management (including hiring, skills development and performance reviews) and financial management (including budget, forecasting, and financial planning activities)
  • Demonstrated experience managing business partner management
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field

 

Preferred:

  • Deep technical expertise in one or more areas within Data Warehousing/Business Intelligence, Master Data Management, Application Development, Database Administration, ETL, Advanced Analytic systems.
  • Demonstrated experience leading teams through technical and/or organizational change.
  • PMP, ITIL certification
