Role Value Proposition 

MetLife’s Employee Experience organization is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Full Stack Software Engineer to work as a member of our strategic Integration product team. In this role, the candidate will work collaboratively within an agile delivery team to lead the design and engineering of a modern APIS and application services. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to MetLife’s cloud acceleration journey by learning and working hands-on within the Azure Cloud including Kubernetes, Functions, Service Bus and API Management, App Insights and more.  


Key Responsibilities 

  • Engineer API and Application services in support of Employee Experience and Human Resource business objectives  

  • Assists in the creation of architectural specifications, ensuring feasibility, functionality, and integration with existing systems/platforms 

  • Participate in the collection and documentation of user requirements as well as the development of user stories and estimates 

  • Participate in Agile ceremonies such as scrum, grooming, retrospective and PI Planning 

  • Participates in technical design, development, implementation, and maintenance/support of application systems 

  • Participate in peer reviews of solution designs and related code 

  • Participates in the investigation and resolution of production management incidents, problems, and service requests.  

  • Supports production applications 

  • Identifies innovative solutions to technical challenges 


Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills  


  • 5+ years of experience in software development, both front and back end 

  • Proficient in development of backend services with RESTful endpoints 

  • Proficient in development of frontend UI components using HTML, CSS, and either JS or MVC frameworks 

  • Proficient in Microsoft .NET Core and C# 

  • Proficient in database technologies such as relationship database design and SQL query 

  • Proficient with Microsoft Visual Studio 2019 or later 

  • Understanding and experience with development of unit tests using NUnit or XUnit frameworks 

  • Understanding and experience scripting build, test, and deployment pipelines, preferably in Azure DevOps environment  

  • Understanding and experience with Git and GitFlow in a team environment (merge requests, branching, push, and pulls) 

  • Understanding and experience securing APIS and applications with enterprise security solutions such as SiteMinder, PING, OKTA using industry standard patterns such as ODIC, JWT and SAML2  

  • Understanding of distributed microservice architectures and design patterns 

  • Familiarity with tools to automate operational processes, including monitoring and incident resolution of applications 

  • Ability to understand user stories and/or business requirements with ability to implement in required language or technologies 

  • Experience working in Agile environment, preferably with SAFE (Scaled Agile Framework) experience  



  • Employee Experience and Human Resources industry experience 

  • Experience with Azure Cloud including Azure Fundamentals, Azure PaaS (platform as a service), particularly Kubernetes Service, Container Registry, Key Vault, App Insights, Logic Apps, Functions, Service bus, Cosmos DB, SQL DB 

  • Experience with API Gateways such as API Connect, APIM and API specification/documentation such as Swagger 

  • Experience with UI/UX development is a plus, such as React, Angular, CSS, HTML5, JavaScript 

  • Experience or understanding of enterprise data architectures and technologies such as Data Lakes, Data Marts, Operational Data Stores, ETL/ELT, data analytic and visualization tools
