At MetLife, we seek to make a meaningful impact in the lives of our customers and our communities.  The Global Technology & Operations group (GTO) is a diverse team of engineers, developers, business analysts, and project managers with the freedom to create innovative solutions to address core business challenges within MetLife.  The purpose of MetLife’s Enterprise Data Governance (EDG) program and organization is to manage data as a corporate asset by coordinating the people, processes, and technology needed to improve the quality and consistency of data throughout MetLife and maintain compliance with external regulations.

 

Key Responsibilities:  

  • Executes in the onboarding, maintenance, and support of metadata documentation and data asset ingestion in the enterprise data catalog, across the business, data, technical, and governance dimensions.
  • Collaborate with data owners in data governance programs to assure high fidelity, consistency, deduplication, and accuracy of the catalog, and ensuring readiness of data owner oversight.
  • Provides guidance on standard process, including data asset documentation, business glossary, technical metadata, data dictionary, data lineage, data quality rules, etc. for holistic data catalog.
  • Educates on the benefits, roles / responsibilities, and minimum training mandates, while enforcing requirements of metadata collection, storage, and use.
  • Update standard operating procedures (SOPs), standards, and other artifacts to assure ongoing applicability of an agile and contemporary data cataloging and curation program.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

Required: 

  • Hands on experience with digital and data asset management (DAM), enterprise asset management, content management systems (CMS), document management systems (DMS), or gallery/collection curation.
  • Understanding of data concepts: data profiling, metadata, reference/master data, data assets, data lineage, holistic ontology/graphs.
  • Expertise in Data Management and Governance principles, familiarity, and experience in managing and executing on data governance frameworks (i.e.  DMBOK, COBIT).
  • Exposure to data governance activities particularly corresponding to data ownership, business glossary and data definitions, metadata management, data discovery, data lineage, and data cataloging.
  • Excellent customer relationship, written and oral communications, with ability to document and execute a rigorous and well-defined process.

Preferred:  

  • 3+ years total experience, preferably in one or more industries: financial services, insurance, or technology
  • 3+ years working with data assets of various types or various systems, and data organizational models
  • 1+ years Collibra or other current data governance platforms highly desirable
  • Familiarity of various data / metadata managements and governance tools in the marketplace (e.g., Informatica Axon, EDC, PowerCenter, Data Quality, MDM and RDM tools, Collibra, BigID, etc.)

The wage range for applicants for this position is $68,900 - $91,900. The role is eligible for incentive compensation under the sales incentive plan for your position. MetLife offers a comprehensive benefits program, including healthcare benefits, life insurance, retirement benefits, parental leave, legal plan services and paid time off. All incentives and benefits are subject to the applicable plan terms.
