Role Value Proposition: 

The Planning & Portfolio Management Team is looking for a Director, PMO to lead a Governance team. This team establishes and manages governance across the IT financial portfolio, including project approval requests, business cases, funding decisions, new project code set up, and 3rd party spend control.  This role will also lead transformational change initiatives as MetLife transitions into an Agile Delivery Model.  We need a strong change agent to drive the transformation from current portfolio management and governance processes to Lean Portfolio Management and other SAFe Agile practices.  

    

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for defining, implementing and managing governance policies and procedures across Global Technology financial portfolios, including controls and approval governance for project funding, project set-up, and 3rd party spend
  • Makes governance decisions and analyzes portfolio investment impacts including budgets, forecasts and other related financial information, and associated risks or impacts
  • Drives transformational change by leading initiatives to adopt Lean Portfolio Management practices into current financial and governance models; operationalizes new practices throughout IT orgs
  • Acts as a change agent to implement Agile best practices and Lean Portfolio Management throughout IT orgs and PMO
  • Identifies and drives process improvement throughout governance processes
  • Partners closely with Finance, CIOs and a large network of other partners to provide leadership and guidance on instilling governance practices throughout the organization
  • Performs full supervisory responsibilities for a team of 5 direct reports

 

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

Required:

  • 10+ years of broad IT PMO / financial experience, including financial portfolio management
  • SAFe Agile / Lean Portfolio Management experience
  • Experience working on or with an Agile Delivery Team, Agile Release Train or Agile PMO
  • Proven experience transforming processes, technology and culture, and implementing process improvement
  • Adept at juggling competing priorities, delivering on time results, honoring commitments, and demonstrating ownership / accountability for financial performance
  • Ability to work with uncertainty and operate effectively in a highly matrixed environment
  • Superior communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to gain wide consensus and advance change at all levels of the organization
  • Experience working with, and presenting to, senior executives
  • Detail oriented with strong financial analysis and MS Excel skill
