Role Value Proposition: 

The Director of Converged Infrastructure provides strategic direction and leadership in research, evaluation, engineering design and delivery of virtualized hosting solutions in Converged and Hyper-Converged environment. This person will lead a cross-functional center of excellence (COE) that is essential in deploying infrastructure according to best-of-breed converged principles. A key to success in this role is building strong partnerships spanning Networking, Compute, Storage, Performance, and Automation/Orchestration teams. This role delivers the ability for MetLife to implement complex infrastructure solutions under a consistent global strategy with a strong understanding of the applications hosted in these environments.

   

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establishes, communicates and drives a unified global Converged and Hyper-Converged technology roadmap and capability strategy
  • Directs the selection, design, development and implementation of converged and hyper-converged technologies and their respective eco-system (monitoring, automation, orchestration, service management) components
  • Owns process, structure, and best practices for the deployment and operational readiness of the Converged and Hyper-Converged environment
  • Provides clear, articulate business case analysis for new projects or ideas with an solid understanding of financial principles
  • Recruits, administers, directs, motivates and develops key staff, maximizing their individual contribution, their professional growth and their ability to function effectively with their colleagues as a team
  • Foster innovation, team cohesiveness, and open collaboration

 

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

Required:

  • 10+ years of related work experience with Data Centers, public/private Cloud environments and various hypervisor technologies (VMWare, Hyper-V, KVM)
  • 10+ years of related work experience with converged Network, Compute and Storage integrations, leveraging EMC-Dell VCE/VxBlock and vScale technologies
  • 5+ years of related work experience with cloud computing and/or open platforms like OpenStack, CloudStack, or OpenShift (containers); Proven thought leadership around taking traditional hyper/converged and transforming into potential future state technologies
  • 3+ years of related work experience with automation, orchestration, and general programmability around converged technologies
  • Excellent oral and written communication proficiency including presentations to senior management, strong influencing skills with demonstrated ability to present and communicate concisely and clearly with all levels of financial, non-financial, technical and executive audiences.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related discipline; Master’s / MBA added bonus
  • Experience in organizational change management
  • Exposure working closely with Procurement/Vendor Management teams on purchases and acquisitions
  • Experience in infrastructure solution development around Big Data, Analytics and Software Defined
  • Skills in data center resiliency strategy and design
  • Knowledge/experience in methodologies around SAFE, Agile, DevOps and Continuous Integration
  • Experience in leading or directing the migration of converge or hyper-converge infrastructure in product testing, selection, sizing, architectural design, and application workload selection.
  • Experience with platform optimization to support various Enterprise workloads (such as I/O intensive or compute intensive) to increase infrastructure utilization efficiency
