Role Value Proposition: 

This role is a Director-level technical and thought leader on the AMS team responsible for evaluating, recommending, piloting and supporting implementation of the testing quality strategy.  This role is accountable for implementing and continually refreshing our strategic roadmap to align to MetLife’s goals.

  

Key Responsibilities:  

Demonstrates a clear passion for the topic and technology.  Provides leadership, strategy, goals and direction for evolving the testing service within the AMS organization.  The Director will build partnerships across the global organization, setting the tone for a culture of Quality. A balance of strategic vision and tactical delivery is required for success in the role.  The strategy must be defined for global adoption across a variety of frameworks and models.  Key strategy areas include: test environment management, test data management, service virtualization, digital/mobile, test management and reporting and big data/analytics.  Identifies opportunities through research and analysis of relevant industry trends.

  • Digital Delivery. Drives towards a continuous integration model and capabilities and consistent, documented process.  Ensures automation tools are used in a mature, efficient means by our teams and partners.  Leads the way to implement and ingrain automation enablers, e.g. test data management, service virtualization, security and environmental readiness.

  • Innovation. Develops and maintains the testing quality strategy and roadmaps, combined with detailed implementation plans.  Accountable for software and service vendor assessment. Ensure deliverables completed within committed timeframe and budget.

  • Strategy: Identifies and recommends changes to enhance the effectiveness of test strategies and tools. Drives quality standardization across the organization and ensures continuous process improvements in quality delivery.  May engage on significant application delivery programs to ensure value of the strategy implementation to delivery.

  • Compliance and Risk.  Supports organizational compliance requirements and is proactively identifying and mitigating risks. Communicates with senior management and other stakeholders.

  • Supervisory Responsibilities: Ensure vendor performance and deliverables meet contract specifications.

  • Budget / Financial Management: Manages demand, forecasts and monitors the budget for areas of responsibility including infrastructure, software licenses and staff.

  • Performs related duties as assigned or requested.

 

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

 Required:

  • Ability to advocate for our vision and influence via partnerships are critical in this role.  Primary stakeholders and partners include: Architecture, Application Development teams and software and services vendors.

  • Translates executive management vision and develops department vision, strategy, service levels, and business objectives.  Communicates vision and strategy to organization. 

  • Accomplished change management leader

  • Demonstrated experience navigating, influencing and leading within a highly matrixed environment

  • Flexibility to accommodate working across global time zones

  • Strategic thinker with strong execution capabilities

  • Experience in driving to synthesis and developing recommendations; high degree of comfort with ambiguity

  • Show business maturity, have strong presence and possess advanced written and verbal communication skills

  • Experience implementing continuous delivery via automation and related capabilities

  • Experience working in DevOps or Agile delivery models

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration or other related field, or equivalent work experience

     

    Preferred:

  • 12+ years of systems development, software quality assurance and testing and/or business experience.

  • 3+ years of vendor management experience. 

  • Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field preferred. 

  • PMP Certification
