The Director Agile Transformation and Critical Initiatives will drive Lean-Agile transformation to achieve innovation, fast flow and predictability in the $2 billion MetLife global initiative portfolio. Lean-Agile is the fastest growing execution method at MetLife.  In keeping with our commitment to deliver value, this leader is also responsible to partner with execution leadership inside and outside our organization to maximize value outcomes and cultivate sustainable transformation at MetLife. This leader will shape and champion the MetLife journey to Agility, with particular focus on execution, talent and systemic enablers of Agility.


To succeed in this role, this leader must have mastery the SAFe Agile framework, and understand the unique opportunities and challenges associated with enterprise Agility. She or he will be responsible to help configure and adapt Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) to the organization’s needs, as well as innovating past the existing bounds of the SAFe framework.


The leader will be an exemplar of the entrepreneurial skills, relentless focus on the customer and amplification of value required to take MetLife to the next level of performance. The person in this role will shape the overarching strategy that keeps the organization constantly moving towards realization of Agility and achieving broader MetLife objectives. As an influencer, this person will motivate all levels of stakeholders through consistent communication and tactical support across the organization.


Key Responsibilities:  


  • Lead and coach critical, complex initiates spanning multiple organizations and geographies  
  • Shape and mature the transformation team operation model
  • Drive operational excellence and consistency through identification and enablement of opportunity areas that create efficiency, remove obstacles, or create improved processes and approaches to the business (Lean-Porfolio Management, CI/CD, Agile Architecture, Agile HR, Agile contracting, and benefit realization)
  • Coach and develop Lean-Agile leadership across MetLife
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders, global leadership, business and IT team members, and vendor support team to promote the value of the transformation team and overall organization
  • Handle complex situations and multiple responsibilities simultaneously, mixing long-term strategy with the urgency of immediate demands.
  • Demonstrate the ability to deal with highly confidential information and act as a liaison between senior executives, the GTS organization and other impacted/interested organizations (internal and external)
  • Recruit and develop internal talent to fuel Agility at MetLife


Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:




  • Must be current in SAFe certifications, including SPC 4.0
  • Demonstrated ability to launch and sustain Agile initiatives through coaching and development of in program talent to support persistent change (5-10 years)
  • Exceptional coaching, facilitation and communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Experience in organizational change management, transformation, implementation, and execution
  • Knowledge of Waterfall delivery and experience operating in a Bi-Modal environment (Agile and Waterfall)
  • Demonstrated proficiency in delivering high quality training with excellent student feedback
  • Strong knowledge of Agile metrics and their applications
  • Ability to champion and drive communication, presentations and briefings for internal and external audiences; strong public speaking stills
  • Must be self-motivated, ambitious and dedicated individual with the ability to proactively drive business plans and projects
  • Must be analytical yet pragmatic with strong quantitative capabilities, business judgment and possess good organizational and communication skills
  • Proven vision, leadership, and strategic thinking skills through each stage of program execution. Ability to lead evolving initiatives from start to finish in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to foster organizational change through program execution and act as a change agent



  • iSPCT eligible
  • Bachelor’s Degree Preferred
  • Change management or coaching certifications
