Role Value Proposition: 

The Data Analyst - Capacity Management function is responsible for tracking and forecasting organic and project-driven demand for infrastructure, and reconciling that demand to available capacity.  This includes predicting usage of existing infrastructure, optimizing performance, and planning capacity for the introduction of new services over time.  The Analysts on this team play a critical role in the data analysis that lays the foundation for forecasting and planning to successfully deliver a capacity assurance service for our applications and infrastructure.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create, manage, and analyze data to enable modeling and predictive analysis of infrastructure capacity in support of service levels
  • Develop and customize reports of historical and forecasted capacity consumption for both organic and project-based demand
  • Coordinate requirements gathering sessions necessary to collect application data and requirements as the basis for modeling, forecasting, and tracking future demand
  • Assist team in documenting and managing  the flow of data and information created and used by the team to analyze usage trends to plan hardware acquisitions to prevent business interruption 
  • Participate in establishment of an annual hardware forecast which includes establishing a baseline and developing capacity demand forecasts through LOB and infrastructure analysis, organic growth trending, and understanding new requirements
  • Participates in development of communication materials required to deliver capacity related recommendations.
  • Assist with evaluation of new and existing tools required to deliver capacity forecasting and optimization solutions
  • Create, document, test, and manage implementation of changes in requirements needed to support ongoing operations for capacity request processes and systems.
  • Support End to End processing of capacity requests

 

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:
 

Required:

  • 2-3+ years of experience with data analysis techniques using custom data and system management technologies and tools
  • 2-3+ years of experience with Power BI or other reporting tools
  • 2-3+ years MS Office Suite:  advanced skills in Excel, intermediate skills in Word, PowerPoint
  • 2-3+ years SQL / Oracle skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field, or equivalent work experience
  • Knowledge of service management concepts and experience with capacity forecasting and analysis
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and exceptional customer service orientation
  • Knowledge of virtualization concepts across technologies such as VMware and AIX platforms 
     

Preferred (Optional):

  • Experience with virtualization technologies and tools such as VMware and AIX platforms
  • Knowledge of operating system (Windows, Linux, AIX, iSeries) configuration and capacity/performance metrics.
  • Knowledge of hardware acquisition concepts and pricing and/or chargeback concepts
  • ITIL Foundations training / certification
  • SAFE / Agile certified
  • Experience or interest in automation
  • Experience using Agile DevOPS tools (eg AZDO, JIRA)
  • Hands on experience using Agile methods (eg PI Planning, Epic/Feature/Story/Task writing)
