Department: Digital Automation team is responsible for exploration, evaluation, onboarding, implementation, governance, platform management, and support of various digital automation technologies including robotics process automation, intelligent automation, conversational AI, business process management, in support of all lines of business across 40+ markets around the world.​

 

The Role: AVP, Robotic Process Automation (RPA) will lead MetLife's Robotic Process Automation product team. You will be responsible for the end-to-end product lifecycle, including ideation, creation, adoption and support of business process automation solutions using RPA and other automation tools.  As the leader of RPA, you will lead the RPA roadmap, as well as, help shape emerging technologies in automation and AI.

 

Key Relationships:

  • Reports to: VP, Head of Digital Automation
  • Direct reports/team: 5/15
  • Key Stakeholders: Numerous business stakeholders across business segments and supporting functions, e.g. Legal, Finance, IT, Ops, Audit, etc.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead RPA product team through the entire product development lifecycle including ideation, creation, adoption and support, as well all aspects of leadership, including, planning, budgeting, forecasting, innovation, engineering, delivery and people management
  • Partner with head of programs, operations leaders, country leads, and IT leaders across MetLife to understand business problems, build project roadmap, and deliver solutions to enhance customer journey
  • Partner with other product and service teams within digital automation to develop broader automation strategy, as well as collaborate in delivering solutions that require multiple automation products
  • Lead RPA center of excellence (CoE) and continually develop standards, best practices, reference implementations; provide training, consulting, and governance to partners across the world and support them in delivering and operationalizing automation solutions with increased efficiency; support federated development model and enable partner teams to develop and support high quality automation solutions
  • Increase adoption of agile best practices to deliver value to business quicker; lead multiple agile teams to deliver timely, cost effective, and high quality automation solutions
  • Hire, mentor and develop talent across different functions of the team while supporting GTO workforce strategy; create an environment of trust, collaboration, and excitement within RPA team, and across peer teams, and inspire everyone towards the common goal of creating solutions that drive to better customer experiences
  • Rentlessly pursue new and innovative ways to create better solutions for our customers, as well as find opportunities to re-engineer existing solutions for greater efficiency and performance
  • Provide timely and best in class product support by constantly listening to the needs of our customers and continuously improving our applications and processes
  • Enhance application development and deployment processes to align with DevSecOps goals and increase automation to reduce manual activities; modernize tech stack to increase currency, improve stability and reduce risk; evaluate infrastructure footprint and transition applications to cloud as much as possible

 

Candidate Qualifications:

   Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

  • 10+ years of experience in software development; 5+ years of experience in leading teams
  • Deep understanding of RPA space, including hands on development experience with industry standard commercial and open source products and services, such as BluePrism, Robot framework; Experience with intelligent automation solutions a plus
  • Experience developing and deploying RPA apps to scale in production, including experience developing solutions that integrate with other automation solutions, such as, data digitization, workflow, conversational AI
  • Experience in building and leading cross functional product engineering teams
  • Experience in agile software development lifecycle
  • Experience applying DevOps practices and tools, including automated build, test, deploy pipelines
  • Experience with cloud technologies from providers such as Azure, and experience deploying apps in various cloud deployment models such as, IaaS, PaaS and SaaS
  • Ability to inspire and lead teams, and define vision and strategy and organizational change 
  • Proven experience identifying, evaluating, adopting and operationalizing innovative technologies and solutions
  • Experience with process Improvement and partnering with business units to identify automation opportunities
  • Experience working in financial services and insurance is preferred
  • Outstanding executive communication skills, written and oral
  • Bachelor's degree in information technology or related field or equivalent experience
