Role Value Proposition:   The AVP, Application Development (AD) Portfolio Management will be responsible for managing cross-organizational teams to implement and mature Portfolio Governance and Planning for all US AD teams, including US AD, Corporate Systems, and Investments to improve planning, speed of delivery, and drive cost saving with project and program execution.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the overall value of US AD Planning & portfolio.
  • Lead Planning and portfolio governance teams in US leveraging standard methodologies, tools and policies to standardize and simplify globally
  • Portfolio governance and planning of ~$460M of IT spend including milestones, issues, risk/change management and creation of Senior Executive level portfolio status reporting
  • Actively works with IT Business Relationship Management and Business Partners on evaluation of incoming project demand and establishment of timing of Project/Program initiation and PAR approvals
  • Oversee (PAR) business case review of project/programs and align prioritization
  • Lead Portfolio Management reviews for individual Business Portfolios
  • Oversee resource planning, capacity planning and demand planning across all of US AD
  • Oversee the review of MOR Orange book to Sr. IT leaders.
  • Develop and execute a portfolio change control, risk management and communications strategy
  • Coordinate and collaborate by partnering across Business areas, Global Technology and Operations and in region as needed.
  • Communicate and make recommendations to the IT leaders, peers within Planning and Strategic Governance functions and with other corporate areas as needed.
  • Travel Requirements: 10%


Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

  • 10-15+ years of experience in large, global corporate environment preferably financial services industry; 10+ years of IT AD PMO and governance experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Demonstrable experience planning and managing a project portfolio of greater than $300M annual spend with more than 2000 initiatives.
  • Organizational Change Management expertise.
  • Excels at leading distributed, global teams.
  • Proven experience in providing service to internal stakeholders to achieve successful project outcomes
  • Large corporate environment experience where coordination, collaboration and communication across multiple organizations is required for alignment, approvals, decision-making and governance
  • Understanding of the principles and frameworks of successful project management from a support perspective
  • Understanding of project delivery and acceptance processes within a fast-paced business environment
  • Expert in effective management of multiple, concurrent projects
  • Demonstrated capability for problem solving, decision making, sound judgment, assertiveness
  • Expert influencing skills to manage enterprise stakeholders, business partners, and teams of diverse composition (e.g. varying skill sets; in-house and outsourced) who are not direct reports
