Role Value Proposition:  IT Project Manager

The Technical Project Manager is a hands-on role who leads and manages IT infrastructure projects and program deliverables in line with MetLife’s project delivery standards. The Technical Project Manager will act as a project management technical lead and is responsible for working with business functional areas to deliver technical solutions in the form of new and enhanced IT infrastructure and applications.

 

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing project planning and management for established initiatives within the company. They will ensure that projects are completed to specification and within an established time frame and budget. The Technical Project Manager will draw on subject matter expertise within the company and be responsible for bringing the required resources together across multiple teams within MetLife, to drive solutions and associated deliverables.

 

The candidate should have expertise in the delivery of IT Infrastructure solutions and be proficient in core infra-architectures (Networking, Compute, Storage, Middleware, Security, Cloud). This role will suit an IT Project Manager.

 

Key Responsibilities: IT Project Manager

  • The Technical Project Manager will be responsible for managing all phases of project delivery including, technical analysis and design, configuration and build, testing and training, and deployment and handover to IT operations functions
  • They will be accountable for all aspects of project management including project planning, scheduling, risk management, scope management, internal and external communications, status reporting, and resource management (internal and 3rd party)
  • Provide input into MetLife’s “PAR” process for new business driven projects where appropriate to ensure that all infrastructure costs for projects are agreed and included in the proposed project budget
  • Assigns and monitor work of technical personnel, ensuring that project steps are in alignment with business objectives, on-time and within budget

 

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills: IT Project Manager

 

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT-related discipline, or extensive workplace-based experience
  • A technical background, preferably in IT infrastructure related roles
  • Demonstrable technical project management experience, with gradually increasing responsibilities and a demonstrated knowledge of project management processes and core IT infrastructure technologies (Networking, Compute, Storage, Middleware, Security, Cloud) 
  • Professional project management certification from accredited institution
  • Proven ability and track record in delivering technical projects with both Agile and Waterfall project management frameworks
  • Ability to independently manage the operational aspects of ongoing projects and serves as liaison between project management and project team
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills, relationship building skills and ability to achieve results without direct reporting relationships
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and the ability to present a polished, professional, and diplomatic image to all stakeholders
  • Excellent judgment, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills

 

Preferred:

  • Knowledge for using the Clarity project management tool
  • Knowledge of the SAFE Agile framework
